FL Studio - Feedback?
2008-08-14, 9:13 PM #1
So I made this Intro/Title Screen song for Metroid in FL Studio 7. My goal was to mix the sounds from the original NES version with the SNES version, and then sort of modernize it. Any thoughts or feedback is appreciated!

Also, sorry if this host is crappy, I didn't know where else to go.

You should do the mp3 embed thing. One thing that stands out to me is that the time is really inconsistent...the phrases are pretty disjointed.

I'll have to figure out the embed thing later. I think I understand what you mean by the time being inconsistent, but can you explain the phrases part? I'm not really music intelligent, I just like to tinker with FL Studio.

not bad

Try some more effects on the strings like chorus/flanger and reverb

Btw u seem to have a glitch in one of the samples, its clipping
Code:
if(getThingFlags(source) & 0x8){
  do her}
elseif(getThingFlags(source) & 0x4){
  do other babe}
else{
  do a dude}

You just do {mp3}whatever{/mp3} but with square brackets.

You should try something that isn't the JKedit of music making.

Sounds better than my first mp3s, I give you that :P

You should start acquiring VSTs, though.

I mean the timing of the long low pew sound isn't consistent...it moves around which messes any sense of time.

Rob is sort of correct, Reason IS better than FL STudio, but not by a huge margin. If you manage to "download" some master Vst's you'll find your sound improves, especially:

Base Levels
Compressors
Gate compressors
EQ's
True Verb filters

I suggest Nomad and Renaisance Wave packs
Code:
if(getThingFlags(source) & 0x8){
  do her}
elseif(getThingFlags(source) & 0x4){
  do other babe}
else{
  do a dude}

Well getting them is doable, but how user friendly are they? I have a LOT of stuff for FL Studio, I just don't know how to use most of it.
