Favourite music albums and why mean a lot

I thought I'd come up with this is as I have favourite albums and I like them for many reasons. As we all know music is what makes the world go round, so and they impact us different ways. Some people might think its a bit personal, but Im open and honest about the music I like so much.

Anways here are three of my favourite albums and why I love them:

a) The Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
I have always loved this album, despite the memories that it sometimes evokes. I remeber buying this when I was 16 and going through a troubled time in my life. This helped me through and its always nice listen, in particular Mr Corgan's guitar solos. However saying that its a rather emotional drain as Im always reduced to sobs when I finished listening to the album. It's more or less one of my most prized possessions. Saying that I might listen to it later :). It may not be heavy metal, but I do have a fest for a bit orginality. Back in the day the Pumpkins were original and I hold great regard for their talent, Billy Corgan in particular.

b) Type O Negative - October Rust
I've grown to really like this album, and its becasue of the linking of emotion and romantic apects of the soul. This is unlike all of the said band's recording and has a strong effect. Some of the tracks have strong meanings, but of course if one has heard of Type O, there is the usually bit of fun and an expression of the wit that frontman Peter Steele. There some great riffage and keyboard noise. My favourite track is 'Die With Me' which has that ballady feel to it and I listen to it quite. Btw its worth mention that Type O are my favourite band at the moment. Peter Steele (very much like Corgan of the Pumpkins) has a very imposing presence and his own personal experience of life has put some spin on his songwriting.
Its become a bit of favourite, because of my frequent romantic longings.

c) Duffy - Rockferry
Okay perhaps my username my define most of my music taste, but what struck me about this Welsh lass is something that I can't really describe. She's a proper soulful singer methinks. I bought this album mainly because I heard the 'Warwick Avenue' track on the radio and really loved the song. I love this album because of its uniqueness and has that alternative feel which (echoes the other two of the above albums) has that touch of the emotional. It feels epic and you get feeling like the gal's singing like she means it. I always get a bit shaky when the album starts with 'Rockferry' it has something to do with the piano... This is a bit unique that I cannot pick a favourite track and well its one of those gems that don't come around that often. Of course its certainly not heavy music but its a rare change from the loveable noise and riffs that Im used to.

So what I really liked about the three is that they are emotional and perhaps a bit depressing and they all seem to pull a few strings. It may just be me I guess :).

Anyhow I'd be intrested if anyone here has got favourite music albums and why they mean so much.

Dimmu Borgir - Death Cult Armageddon - 2003
My first real metal album that brings back a lot of memories of high school in autumn and being awake late at night. Fun times. Of course I got this a year later than I should have, but it gave me musical direction. I first remember listening to Progencies of the Great Apocalypse and thinking it was too loud. But it grew on me like a plague.

Failure - Fantastic Planet - 1996
Love the way this was mixed personally, and had a lot of great songs on there.

Finntroll - Jaktens Tid - 2001

This was back when Finntroll was good. Brings back memories of playing a rogue on WoW and backstabbing people, and memories of walking around in autumn with leaves everywhere.

I guess they're my favorite albums because of what I associate with them from the past.

The 13th Step - A Perfect Circle
In a time when I couldn't listen to anything that wasn't from Norway, this album came along and stole my heart. Big connections with some ex girlfriends which makes it a little tough to listen to, but I think thats the whole point of this thread. Tons of driving around in the country, windows down, heat blasted. Cigars, deer, friends going away.

October Rust for me as well, and for a lot of the same reasons.
