A func_door_rotating is something I coded a long time back, it's a tut at Code3Arena, the very first coding I ever did for anything, ever. I'm not sure if we'll use it in AotC:mp but it'll be in the code, along with ladders, at least to entice mappers into mapping for it when it's released. Oh, one other thing, remember that darn "surfaceparm metalsteps" problem? I fixed that in code as well. Basically, I want AotC to be the thing people want to map for.
This animation thing is really my holy grail - I'm not an animator and I know it is too little too late, but I have to finish it. Now that the reverse engineering's hard part has been done, Emon is correct, it is a very good possibility for me to study animation formats (so far, it looks like I could use 3ds, Milkshape, or even GMax, because they all have the same basic structure) and implement a conversion utility, or a set of utilities.
The cool thing, IMHO, is that it 'couldn't be done', and now it can with some moderate success. I'll be polishing it up and uploading the working product soon, I still think it's hard to do, but that anim took about 20 minutes, it's just one frame, though. I need to write a 'frame generator', so you give it two frames and it makes up the frames that go between.
In any case, the future looks bright. Aren't you glad I almost entirely have stopped trying to map?
