Now it's exact. Tall rows == 12 spikes, Short Rows == 11 spikes

3 groups to each side, 1 tall, and 2 short rows to a group, 4 sides all together.

Which comes to a grand total of 136 spikes, the exact amount on that mace you posted. Tahaa.

The spikes have too much of an even pattern, and are way, way too high poly. Especially for background decor.

Not bad, just need to fix the spikes so they are connected, and welded to the mace instead of floating insice and sticking out of the mace. but not bad.

Well, you made the Triangularific spikes or whatever, but they are just floating around with the model, you should weld them Onto the Mace.

Given the number of spikes, welding each of those spikes in would kick the polycount way up, not to mention a serious pain in the *** . You're either going to have to deal with Z-fighting ingame or an excessive polycount, both of which are going to slow down the game; might as well leave it alone.

If you do want to weld them, there's no reason the spikes couldn't simply be 3-sided pyramids. Texture it right and it'll look perfectly cylindrical, at least from a ways off.

The thing is, he wants them 4 sided, looking even. I'm not going to bother weilding anyway, there are too many pollys even at 4 sides to a spike.

He means the spikes themselves should be three sided pyrimidal prisms. Or maybe four or five at the most. You have waaay too many, you won't ever notice them.

Yes. I know. That's exactly what I just said. Cazor wants them 4 sided, so I'm redoing the spikes, making them more spread out, making them exactly how my precious wants it.

You dont have to weld it, but if you dont want faces Disapearing and Reapearing, as well as moving all around the screen, you should weld them. Milkshape has a little surface glitch called "Float Glitch" which does that. They are fixing it soon (I Hope). It can get annoying. Just a suggestion.
