Tatooine Morning

This is just something quick I made in JO to test out some textures and lighting. It's a morning on Tatooine.

The sand texture is mine, the vaporators are not, and the skybox is not. I don't recall the authors, but whoever they are, nice job.

if you plan on making a level out of this, even though it is a test, more variety.

nice though, i liked it.

Thats pretty cool, but use patches for the part roght above the door. It will look better instead of that multi-sided brush.

Or just use Phong shading.

The way the buildings are lit makes the skybox.. well, look like a skybox. I'd make it a lot brighter.

A major source of objection to a free economy is precisely that it gives people what they want instead of what a particular group thinks they ought to want. Underlying most arguments against the free market is a lack of belief in freedom itself.

Here's another shot. It's not very good, and I had to take the fog out.

About the arched doorways: I tried for the life of me to make them patches, but I couldn't get them right.

Nice! but i suggest making one LARGE light source, also, so that it seems that there is an acual sun and it will also cast shadows like there was one in there. Just make sure you position the light in the correct location so it accualy looks like the sun is giving off the light source.

How would you go about making a sun-like light source? Would you target it at a target_null and give it a large radius? Or just make a light with key light, value 3000 and put it in the middle?

Put the sun info in the skybox shader. You can also have two suns, so you can have quite a bit of fun with this map. I think that if you used a soft fog near the ground it would give a ton of depth.

You can have as many suns as you want with entity suns. Entity suns rule.

Make a spotlight but give the light _sun 1.
