bridge!

This is the pic in which i just made with meh mad paint brush sk1llz. This will be the blueprints for my new JK MP level I'm making, called "One Way In." It will be a CTF map, and this is it's basic design.

There will be ONE, and ONLY one way across, unless I decide to make a small secret or something, that way the bridge will be CONSTANT battle and will be very fun. The bridge will be long also, probobly as long as the elevator part of Jedi Tower, to the ship on the other side. It will also be 1 person width, so...it will be fun! It will have boards that break after being hit so much and stuff, so, anyways, I need some sugguestions, it sounds good so far, but I don't know if I need more or not. It needs to be something that won't leave people constantly vulerable, because that will cause massive amounts of camping. I know that camping is generally acceptable in CTF matches, but you have to give the attackers some amount of hope for success. I suppose you could use transports, or terrain, or midway-point sentry building type dealies... I mean there are tons of options, you just have to cater to your needs and what you think others will enjoy.

Unless he means a tOrrent of wind lol.
And shouldn't the flag be inside the base? Otherwise it'll be *Force speed across bridge, grab flag, speed back" since there's no such thing as Force push in standard JK. Anyway, some alternative routes to reach the base might be nice, otherwise defending might be a tad too easy. Only one route to defend.

He's been playing Neocron obviously, where they called them "fractions" instead of "factions" and of course "turrents". Printed manual too.

Seems a good idea, but have an upper bridge that is wide-ish, then two very narrow lower bridges leading to caves/stairs up to the "turrents".

The design is too simple. As long as there is only one way around, defense can nuke an area of the bridge whenever offenders come without fail. It looks like a massive stalemate.

In the next few minutes I'll have SS's (I'll edit this post) I will change the title, I'm sorry I spelled TURRET wrong, I did not even know I did that. Secondly, the title will be different. And also, wow, that is kinda strange that there is a level like mine, but in the end, they will be nothing alike. Plus, his is JO and mine is JK. if the bridge is that narrow it's gonna be unplayable 2-3 person wide at the very least

Alright peeps, Here is the map so far. I really need someone to help me with this CTF setup though, the level is starting to turn out fine, but I just can't get the CTF to work right, anyways, I'm in #massassi all the time as DBF_SuperSaiyan so if you can help me, then please give it a shot. Let's start out with the lobby you start in:

That's the lobby where you can see how many players are currently on each team, the scores for each team, and at the beginning you can set the score. The red and blue areas are the portals to the teams.

Yes, that is a wooden bridge, and a mighty unstable looking one O.O Thanks to Elmo for the help on that.

Just a note, most of the textures are temporary, the terrain needs major work, and I still have to add in the TURRETS and other fun stuff.

From what I can see, that lobby is three big boxes with bad textures. The lobby needs more work than anywere else, since you said you'd work on the terrain and stuff. VERY nice bridge, though! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

I think that carrying that flag isn't the biggest concern, getting to it in the first place seems rather tough. Altough it might be do-able with Force Speed + Force Jump. But one narrow bridge seems all too easy to defend. (but then again if an enemy does get across you can line up part of your team at the base door)

ah yes, I really like the bridge, only a very skilled editor can create such a great bridge. :P

Well, the terrain needs a lot work, and the lobby shouldn't be as big lower the ceiling and put some nice archi in there.
Give it some theme, like a cave or a real lobby or something, but don't leave it a grey box.

Might I suggest to get the lava closer to the bride and put some rocks in it. not only a row but more rocks so you can cross it by jumping from one to another and then you enter a cave that leads into the base or something? you could have it close enough to use force jump to get on the bridge. you know what I'm talking about?

UH, clipping the corners off of rooms doesnt really count as architexture.

Some ideas for the start room:

-A dome.
-Lots of beams.
-Water.
-Windows that look out onto either more terrain or perhaps a river or city; maybe even a skybox (probably overdoing it though, unless you add the skybox to the rest of the level)

Don't use 3do's for everything either! Cleave that mofo out!

Don't be discouraged though, it looks very promising.

Powertickle, I still have much more work to do, however, it's a big step up from before. I must add in my jagged cliffs soon, and then it'll look alot more realistic.

WOW! I've been gone a while so I just decided to check in and I found a level with AWESOME potential. I think you should make a passage that goes UNDER the lava lake that you can look up and see things. Also make a few traps with the bridge. Like have it flip or something, or sway, or have occasional wind, even though that itself would be almost impossible. Maybe you could make two bridges, one above, and one below. That would be awesome.

Textures have got to go. The main lobby is still WAY too plain. Try making the rocks less skinny. Like have them be fat at the bottom and get thinner, and they dont ahve to be very tall.

Rocks are a bit unnatural, but oh well, it's in the Star Wars unniverse, it doesn't have to be. But all I can advice is making the outside areas look a tad more "alive" and less angular,inside locations can be as boxy as you like (only natural really,altough outlandish building architecture is always nice), also more than one way to get from one base to the other would be majorly appreciated to make for some varied gameplay. But like it's been mentioned, it's having potential.

I would put some walkways on either side of the bridge, maybe slightly higher. Consider shot angles in game, and for god sakes, if you aren't going to do much more as far as rooms just put concussion rifles and rail dets for weapons. Everything else would be useless. Nobody good plays JK CTF with force anyway, mainly because of JK lag. Look at other JK CTF levels such as Fusion or even Nar to get more ideas.
