im just trying out different render types.
can anyone tell my why the reflections on the spheres are making that weird tear drop?

Looks to me like the curvature of the ball bearing is distorting a rectangular doorway in the background.

It's a distorted reflection of the tape. Git rid of the tape thing and see if it goes away. (Well, it looks like tape).

Looks like the Camera. If you move the camera angle around does the tear move too?

actually i did that because i get super paranoid about my work. Someone took one of my terragen renders without my permission and turned it into a startup screen. only reason i found out was because my friend had been using it as his startup screen. so thats me, paranoid mb...

My guess on the teardrop is a problem with your environment map, but I'm not familiar enough with Cinema 4d to have any suggestions on how to check that, much less fix it.
And meanwhile the bus with legs has destroyed half of disneyland . . . and nobody cares!
