Wow... I can't stop laughing... it's so funny, I mean, how you played a game, and added words into there mouth, like they were people working in a job, and that monsters were- yeah, you can tell it's your first attept.

Well, most people make a sprite sheet, rather than taking screen shots of the game being played.

Also, I'd choose an more easy to read font. Maybe it's the colors of the speech bubbles but they seem really hard on the eyes.

It's a good thing you're as good as you are, or witty banter like this might invite the same type of remark on your own threads.
A desperate disease requires a dangerous remedy.

A major source of objection to a free economy is precisely that it gives people what they want instead of what a particular group thinks they ought to want. Underlying most arguments against the free market is a lack of belief in freedom itself.

*sigh*
here we go...

The writing: I'm guessing this comic is supposed to be funny. It's not, which makes me fairly glad that the writting was almost illegible.

The art: Sprite comics show a lack of skill, interest and effort on the artist's behalf.
What the art does show is lazyness and the ability to copy and paste.

The idea: Wow... a sprite comic, in the form of an RPG game! Brilliant! I wonder how many other comics do this...

Pros: You used .png format (png > jpeg > gif)
Cons: An overly uninspired comic that does nothing but take up space on one of geocities's server's hard drive. Wait, thats a good thing.

Suggestions: Learn to draw and write well, or hire other, perferably experienced, people to do one (or both) of those jobs. Apply those skills to a comic and you'll have much better pictures to take up server space.
Also, don't use geocities.

Like I said before, I'm just starting so I'm not that good at it yet... I have a few other ones that are hand drawn, but no scanner to get them onto a computer to upload. I was just experimenting with these to see what kind of work it would take to make a comic.

About the writing, I know it's not funny, I knew that before I started making them, I think I was running on caffeene from the 2 liters of Mt.Dew and I really couldn't think of anything else to write. And about the font, I didn't really think it was that hard to read when I made it, but now that I look at them, I see what you mean. (again, thanks to the Soda)

The art and idea: It's not that I'm lazy, I just wanted to make some comics based on FF4, mainly because thats my favorite game in the series and the only one I've been able to play over and over without getting bored of it.

I really don't think hiring a writer or artist would be a good idea considering I'm only doing this as a hobby or when I'm bored (if I decide to keep it going).
And I've talking with my internet server about webspace, but they havn't gotten back to me on it yet. So geocities is (hopefully) temporary.

Since when am I good? And what at? You confuse me Sine..

Ah, and on the comic. Perhaps I was harsh, but you've really got to work on being funny, hobbie or not. It's not something you've got to spend all hours of the day on. Second, if you're going to make an FF7 comic... make your own, more developed character graphics that's based on the sprites. Oh, and you're one of the smartest people I know (PNG>Sex)

Kirby, it's getting really annoying how you post something apparently arrogant and unnecessarily harsh with irksome sarcasm with all the markings of elitism on almost every thread you tread upon. I can understand critisicm or outbursts once in a while, but this is getting ridiculous. I'm asking you politely, humbly, and in a civil manner to please stop.

Did you see my sorry?

I may do that too, and I'm sorry, but there are worse. I don't see how I try and be elite, but to each his own.

Yeah, the comics aren't that great, but please don't blame the Dew for the writing.

The first thing you need to do is either create characters that are instantly likable and then try to tell stories about them, or make the characters completely random and say funny words like myzlzkiosp and garador.

Also, doing it all in Flash, no matter how bad or simple the art, and no matter how dumb the voices, makes comedy gold.

/me goes to work on his comedy...

Umm, I't wasn't "the Dew," It was more the caffeine that was doing it to me.

I don't know how to make anything in flash and I'm studying two other languages right now, HTML and Javascript, and a little C (you can't really say that I'm studying C though). I might try flash if I can find enough tutorials and resources on it and can find the time to learn.

The only thing that makes comedy gole is good comedy. My suggestion would be to hand draw the characters that would look the the sprite characters, but more "real looking."
As for the writing, just wait for a funny joke to come to you, then use that.

Hehehe, I think it be hard to do visual comedy in PHP...

oh yes, http://www.blambot.com
use it.

PHP is awesome for websites, but not for animated comedy...

And Flash is really simple to learn if you start with the simple stuff. And the best idea is to just play around with it, it's a GREAT software program.

Actionscript.org, WebMonkey, and even DevShed all have tutorials for Flash. Try there and grab the 30 day trial, read the tutorial that comes with the program (it's the best) and do ALL the lessons. Then, you'll know Flash.
