Impressive, most impressive, but you have no textures yet![/Darth Vader]

I like it, but you really are gonna need good textures for that, good archi though.

And I wondered...

Why in the world would you do the outdoor archi in 3do's? Would you LIKE the player to die of lag?

I like it, but wont comment much until I can get good detail definition. I like the armory.

Thank you for putting up with my dflt. I also can't do it with one sector, that wouldn't work, there and interloping parts and such, I needed to gut it out. You'll all see. Oh, one other thing, those will be fish tanks, not just glass pillars. HOM might be a problem for some computers that can't take lots of adjoins tho. I would get lots of HOM on my old comp and almost none on this one. So I dunno on that factor. Well, continue with your comments.

Is it also just you to live without space partitioning and consequently lower performance? That, and poor lighting?

First of all, it's not called lag, it's called a drop in frame rate. Second, that's what the TCS cogs are for. It's impossible to have realistic outdoors without them.

3do's yield higher frame rates and higher detail without risk of hitting the adjoin limit. And Dynamic Lighting is far superior to standard JK lighting.

Descent_pilot, looking good, I would just reconsider doing the out side areas in 3dos.

Oh no! I can't, I've gutted and done many things with those buildings that if I use 3dos becomes to hard, also better for fps when the archi when the insides are very complex.

Actually, you'll get better fps with 3dos. It keeps JK from having to evaluate so many adjoins.

*wishes the myth that 3do's hurts fps more then adjoins would die*

The Mos Espa level I'm working on is 1 huge sector with tons of 3dos in it. If it were all archi, I would of hit the adjoin limit long ago. Currently, in the center of the city, I'm getting around 48fps. The reason for this, is because I haven't added the RVTCS yet. Once I do, fewer of the objects will be rendered on screen at any givin time. Thus, increasing fps.

Sorry, didn't mean to take over this thread. Just making my point.

It's too bad your too far along to go back and change it.

You don't get better fps when the 3do has many many rooms, transparencys, breaking and moving stuff, on and off things, switches, and other things. There isn't a huge city, The Sniper Missions will use a combo of 3dos and archi, mostly 3dos, but that is a large city and therefore different.

I was saying that, from the looks of it, standard geometry would better fit his needs because space partitioning is performed with sectors and not 3DOs. Then again, no one who edits JK would really even know what that is...

Yes, but you also wouldnt expect anyone who edits jk to know anything about octrees etc would you? Except I'm sure there is, some of us do other 3d related stuff besides jk. (ie directx or opengl)

DP it looks good so far, with some good texturing it will look very good.

My main concern for him is HOM. I'm afraid he's gonna hit the adjoin limit. The rest just boils down to personal preference.

If he used 3dos for the buildings, there would be even more adjoins.. think about it. Unless *everything* inside the buildings were 3dos, and that would be just plain stupid. This is not to mention that you'd get massive 'disappearing 3dos' errors.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that it looks pretty good so far! Keep it up, I'm liking the combination of outdoor and indoor architecture.

You made a point of calling the AT-ST bay a garage. Will we get to use them?

Nice, sweet, awesome,.. exc. Anyway, you said there would be children and women? Cool! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif] And also, useing the ATST's would be sweet. Even if it's targeted movement, (as in you can't control it, it auto moves you somewhere-like an elevator) it would be cool. But freelance movement? You're asking for a 10! No, the point of doing it with only one sector is you would have no adjoins (minus the one linking to the main complex and the windows looking from the comlex out to the out-door area).

The disappearing 3do problem would only exist out-side of this 1 sector, and you can use the 'flickering' cog to prevent them from disappearing.

But, like I said, it boils down to personal preference.
