New hoth level I started for MotS

Here are some screenies of a hoth level I started for MotS. My friend was over one day and I decided to open up JkEdit and work on a new project and this is what came about.

nice very nice one of the best things i have seen come from jkedit, but then i don't see much from it well keep up the good work. as finishing touches i might fix a few mats to look better around those doors, but thats being picky

Hmmm.. Mats around doors. I never found any good ones. Got any ideas.. Also, some of the outside arci doesnt look very well textured because its hard to align the mats on that jagged arci.

It looks like its off to a very good start, only suggestion I have is that you might want to find some custom MATs or maybe vary the MATs you're using a bit more.

Unfortunatly, there are not to many snow mats out there to use, but I guess I will keep searching. The level is coming along great though.

It doesn't have to be a MAT. There are thousands of snow textures out on the internet. Do a Google for "snow texture" and the like, you'll find stuff. Just convert it to BMP then to MAT.

To much white and black, i could easily lose my mind in that level. The colors mess with the mind to much, but thats my opinion.

So, I spent an hour on the internet and found one new snow texture. Here it is, it kinda looks like ice.

Well other than the texturing, how does my level look?

Use JED and use stitching. Stitching makes texturing so much easier it isn't funny.

I don't exactly know what stiching is, but in JkEdit, to align textures, you copy the texture, and paste it to the neighboring surface to align it. It works pretty good, but im just saying, that on jagged arci, where multiple surfaces meet at different angles, not all the textures can possibly be aligned. so, other than the texturing(trying to get off that subject hehe :P ), how does my level look?

I liked the new snow texture, and I especially like the 5th screenshot.

Oh thanks I like that shot too. What about the outside archi? Hehe. I will have more shots later as I am working on the level right now.

The outside archi sort of reminds me of Red Faction, and that is a good thing. Looks cool.

Looking at it, I see how it can remind you of Red Faction, and I have to say, it was all done in JkEdit. Hehe [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Is this Echo Base, or just some random Hoth area?

-Cause if it's Echo, you know what you gotta include.

Ahhh stitching is beautiful, i don't know a thing about JKedit other than i tried to use it once and immediately beated my computer with a stick because i became so frustrated with it.

Stitching is very helpful you select a textures start the stich by pressing Ctrl+Ins and then you select the texture you would like to align to the first one and hit Ins and then you can take the one next to the newly alighned one and align the next to it and so on. You can textures huge areas of a level very quickly with it. If JKedit doesn't have something like it switch over to JED immediately after some practice you will learn to love it.

Oh and that new texture is very pretty i like it.

Oh ok. I know what stitching is now. It sounds a lot like the way you align textures in JkEdit, only the hotkeys for it in JkEdit is just one button so it makes it really quick to do. What Im talking about is where three surfaces come together at a point(like maybe out of different sectors) and the texture on all three of the surfaces cant be all aligned to each other. That is where at one place the texture my be unaligned. I'll try to get a screenshot of it where I can point it out.

Ok, here are some more screenshots. The first one shows what I am talking about with the unaligned texture thing.
