A Hutt Caravel based off the schematic in The Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels.

The original model was by Sine_Nomen, and I exported it into 3ds max, and repaired optimized it. I also added the metal frame under the sail.

Made for Sine's Nar Shaddaa level, and possibly my project. It may be a downloadable prefab if Sine wishes to distribute it.

And lastly, the missing surfaces under the sail will be fixed in a cull disabling shader, which will also make the sail move in the wind.

VERY nicely done, although my usual recommendation is to run the EGV through a paper-shredder and use screen caps of the actual studio effects model.

Eh, saxman, there is no studio model. The EGV got the idea from an illustration in Dark Empire.

..And yeah, there are plenty of hutts on Nar. As was said before, it's the moon of the hutt homeworld, and DE depicts them being floated around the towers on antigrav machines. Hutt caravels are used to take them around the moon. Kinda like sail barges, but a good deal smaller and less ornate.

Zul - I would've asked you, but I thought you were busy with the new 'job.' The base color Emon has on there is dead on, and the panel detail should look something like it does on Jabba's sail barge. Pictures abound. thanks

I like it alot, though maybe put some of those embossed lines on the wing-flaps, instead of just texturing them. Other than that i love it. Great work.

My bad, I was thinking about Jabba's skiffs from RotJ.

Either way, though, I'd still go to the original source material over the EGV any day of the week, (take a look at their E-wing schematics. With the dimensions they gave her you couldn't even fit an EWOK in the cockpit!) even with artwork as often bad as Dark Empire.

That would work very well as a base, but I think Emon would need to UV unwrap it for you to add hull panelling.

There were? I didn't really see anything of value to it except the history notes for a handful of entries. I don't even trust them for ships that have never VISUALLY appeared in some form. Artists like to ignore written descriptions and do what they **** well please (hence SWMA K-wing and the sketch of the Jade Sabre for the WotC RPG, although this isn't restricted to the Star Wars Universe).

I'm frightened to see how they handle the X-wing XJ in the new book.

I think the stairs lead up to a place that is for the hutt's slaves or servents, not for the hutt himself.

The hutt sits on the podium towards the back - thus, the ramps. The stairs lead up to a deck for his passengers or servants, while the door beside the stairs leads to some small cabins. The scale of the one depicted in Dark Empire isn't clear, but since the Guide to Vehicles and Vessels said no two are alike, it doesn't really matter.
