I had to brighten them some... FRAPS has a tendency to take VERY DARK screens... they're probably still too dark. I'm slowly progressing beyond this part of the level, although I'm still stumped as to why Emon's new skybox textures are refusing to work...

Ugh, it's boxy, I see DFLT, and please lose the FULLBRIGHT LIGHTING. 50 rocket launchers in a few dflt boxes does not a level make. Come back with something to show.

I should also note that I have yet to figure out exactly what I'm going to do with the roof... I'm trying to keep the archi fairly straight-forward... but the idiot inside me is all "MAX OUT THE DETAILS THAT'S TOO SPARSE". Especially after playing through EF2...

I like your architecture and texturing. It looks a lot more realistic than JO's origional fluffy lookin archi.

It sucks in designing when you are stuck in something like that.

Your stuff looks beautiful. The texturing makes it very . . . sexy. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Very nice, just one question... well... two.

1) Why the massive roof height?

2) SP or MP? I'd KILL for some good SP additions to JO.

You'd be amazed at how the new ceiling actually seems to brighten up the room. Really strange.

And to answer your questions, phoenix:

1.) Because I can. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

2.) SP.

[Edit] I forgot to mention that I'm going to be adding a BIT more light to the top of the ceiling, above the grating there, just to make the pipes and such that are running above it stand out a bit more. I may also change the grating texture. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

I believe Emon meant that it lacks detail in the sense that it's one, unbroken, flat plain of a texture. I may or may not alleviate this. I dunno yet. As for the light beam, it's actually the standard beam shader from Q3, just in JO. That's all. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

[Edit] I also had originally taken those first two sets of screens at 1280x1024x32, with 6xAA/16xAF, and the last bunch is the same resolution at 4xAA/16xAF. I'm just trying out different combinations of AA and AF on my card. (9800 Pro) Obviously all of the shots are resized to 800x600. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Yes, you should break it up some more. Maybe some extruding lights or something.

This map looks very good . . . AND ITS SP! w00t!

I don't have Q3, but I want to get that beam shader (I haven't found the in JO directories). Can I get it from the internet someplace like PlanetQuake?

Truly amazing work Gonk. of course i have to pop this question (as I havn't in a long time): "For those of us with slower systems, HOW DOES IT RUN?" My system had problems with JO's original archi, and that was pretty sparse, so it'd be interesting to find out how well it runs on an older system (though chances are that i will never play this map unless i get a new copy of JO...)

Well, best way to appropriate how it'll run on ANY system is to use r_speeds. (just type r_speeds 1 in the console, after typing in devmapall to enable cheats)... what you're looking for is the tris count...

Basically, the r_speeds as you see it in those shots, sans enemies/player model is in the neighborhood of 10-12k, which is quite surprising, really. Technically your limit BEFORE adding player models/enemy models, etc. should be in the 12-14k range in MP. (of course, that's largely dependant upon the limits you set as an author. But before enemies/NPCs/players and such, that's pretty good.)

You can go up to around 20-25k even _SOMETIMES_ in SP just because the lag issues aren't present, etc. Of course, cleaning up the construction of the map and using hint brushes to help divide up the vis will save you a lot as well. I'd also like to note that I haven't done that yet. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif] I should, but it's not terribly difficult and I might just procrastinate and do it later in the final stages...
