You were telling me one time that like 40 of those pillars would put your FPS in the crapper? How bad was your FPS?

Looks good so far. I assume the floor looking like a disco dance floor is temp?

And what i think im going to do... is make some kind of skybox that makes it look like there are hundreds of more pillars, so i dont have to either lack in pillars, or make it uber-laggy.

yeah, only thing I was gonna say was that it doesn't feel big enough and there aren't enough pillars, but sounds like you're dealing with that anyway.

Right now... i think its gonna be a beam of light coming from the ceiling that hits one of the pillars, and that should give off some glow to light most of the pillars.

I likes, but the beam needs to be a bit less opaque.

The thing is that it contrasts too much with the ambient lighting of the room and makes it look like a powerful laser or something like that.

You can make it less opaque.

Infact, I would make it a gradiant, too.

As in make it get thicker as it goes to the center? cause that would be cool, too. Now how exactly do i do that?

Make it more "see through", as you like to say, the further the beam gets.

Just make a gradient texture, like 64x64 pixels in Photoshop or PSP or something, give it an alphamap, then put it into a shader.

And if the grand Emon would be nice enough, give us a shader tutorial!

I'm SO making a balrog... Well, maybe not. Untill someone disigns a clever way to animate, I'll leave the balrog out of this. If we could make animations, I'd make some goblins too.

Once JA is out you could take the rancor amiations and use that. if i convert it to JA that is. Or if the JA animation works in JO... which it might.

Maybe... but I'd need to take looks at the Rancor and its skeletal mesh... isn't there a rancor in JO!? Could have swore...

Yeah you really need a shader instead of fog. You could also give a surface light value to the shader, which could give off a glowing light to the surrounding area.
