these are the last pix i will show until one time zone is completed. just for interest sake the last time machine level (the whole level) contained roughly 5000 brushes. this room is over 3000 already, maybe not that much but its interesting to see how little was used in the previous level [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif].

Oh yes, and the reason i said you should use patches is evident in the 3rd pic. The way it makes the brush cut up into pieces like that is... not good looking. Other than that its great.

Cool, now mess with the vertexes to make the crappy radiant cylinder look like a real circle and it will look great. I hate how the cylinder patch looks differnt than making a cylidnder with a 12 sided brush. its like the patch always looks squeezed.

You'll have to excuse me in my ignorance since I didn't see the last thread... but what exactly is IT?

Other than that, it's incredible.

Hey, where's the flux capacitor on that thing? Don't you know ANYTHINGl? EVERYONE knows you need a flux capacitor, 1.21 jigawatts of power AND be travelling at 88 miles per hour to travel through time.

I though all you needed for time travel was a polyester suit and seven bottles of beer...

That is not a circle, even with perspective.

My research has recently uncovered a number of alternate methods of time travel:

1. Knowledge of Wormhole Technology, however this is very dangerous because a wormhole has exits into infinite related realities. There is a very real threat of ending up in an alternate reality and being stuck in an Unrealized Reality. Arriving at a place at a point before you left it can also trap you in a permanent unrealized reality.

2. A guy with half his face covered by a metal mask starts spazzing and sucks you back in time.

3. Slingshotting around a sun at maximum warp.

4. A police phone booth.

Time travel is a waste, just get drunk instead. Hey, it's never failed me, and I'm such a sparkling role-model.

That last shot reminds me a bit of the inside of the sphere in Contact. Luverly.

The movie was so much different than the book.

In the book, it took them YEARS to build it and it wasn't this big gryoscope looking thing. They didn't send one person, they sent 4 or 5 I believe. And it wasn't a sphere, it was a room.

After looking at that though, it is kinda obvious why they'd change it the way they did. The one in the movie is a hellova lot more fun to watch.

To get rid of all the little lines running through your archi, you need to caulk the faces of the brush that are not meant to be seen. The easiest way for you to deal with this now is to just multiselect the brushes, apply caulk, then multiselect the faces and retexture.

Wow!!! I loved the first, hope the second will be much more great!

Like the third portal in the middle, it was a good idea to do it like the olds time doors.

One question: Is it an update of the old level, like you only change the time chamber, or you create an all new level, new present, past and future?

Keep up the good work!

the_mute, that was my next question: will you teleport to places? Its awesome that you are creating a lot of diverse environments in one map.

Is this MP? If it is, somebody better host it. A lot of MP maps don't get hosted on public servers.

You should scale up the portal texture or get a new one.

Don't use patches to do that. That can easily be done with brushes(and without csg_subtract, you just gotta take the time to drag the edges).
