It's purdy even with the crappy lighting system.

You should use CleaveLight on that, just for kicks. Make a backup, and hope like hell it doesn't lockup or crash.

it would take me like a year to texture that and have it look good, there are way too many surfaces, as always.

Hmm, maybe save it as a 3do, use forcewrap for the texturing and import it as a level again... or something... That'd probably take ages too.

I'm with you there. As I'm sure Gonk is.

That does look good despite the crappy lighting system.

Cleavelight is very picky. For it to work each surface must be touched by a light, otherwise it crashes.

Nice curves though.

it "works" in game, ecept this was the maximum amount of detail I could show without it starting to HOM like a you know...
and with good reason too:

I guess the JK engine jus't cant handle my 1337 skillz.

here is the same JED shot after i textured.

if only lucasarts just let us mess with their old, dated, absolutely worthless engine, we could turn it into something beautiful. the jk engine is old, so it runs fast on new comps, and can handle big rooms like nobodys business. its fun to test its limits like what gunboy has done so many times.

You could smooth out the lighting even more by carrying the sectors all the way to the floor, instead of having an upper and lower half.

Goon, I don't know if you used perfect polygons, but it's one way you could do it.

3_rats, you haven't worked with newer engines...have you?

You should have textured one unit of it before copying it to all the other positions. That would have made texturing a lot easier, if you don't mind the texture being the same in every section, that is.

I think I know a way to do that that would use a lot fewer sectors . . . maybe I'll open up JED and try. I haven't used jed in a very long time, I don't think it's even installed.
And meanwhile the bus with legs has destroyed half of disneyland . . . and nobody cares!

Use 3d0 columns. I heard that too many sectors in JK is bad, even though I don't edit JK.

That is what I did, well not initially, but right after that.

Only if you don't know how to edit efficiently... My Mines level is, what, 3000 sectors? More I believe, might have been approaching 4000. And there's only, like, one spot to possibly get detail HOM., and it's if you look from a really weird spot that nobody would ever go in. The ONLY problem with having tons of sectors [used right] is the Jk loading time. Mines takes about 1 full minute to load.

and yeah, in this case, having a ton of sectors means a ton of adjoins which means a high probability for detail HOM [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

But we all know this [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]
