The working title is Dormant Destiny. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me by drawing some sprites for me. Also battle animations too (which is why you don't see any fight screenshots). I'm creating this rpg by using RPG Maker 2003 just to let you know.

The plot starts out pretty simple, but it gets a bit deeper as you play. The story starts off with an ordinary guy who was just walking to school when all of a sudden he saw a bright flash. The next thing he knew; he was in a strange snowy forest. While exploring that forest he finds a fellow friend of his. So they then try to find their way home.

So yeah basically the plot sounds like Wizard of Oz and Homeward Bound except with Mafias and political corruption later on. Anyway, I'm planning on releasing the game in 4 parts so that way the download size won't be too large.

I'm in need of people who can sprites like this.

By battle animations I mean stuff like this [http://www.gaminggroundzero.com/fyels/battleanim/anim7.png]

I'm making an RPG too. Difference between mine and yours, you can't tell it's RM2K in mine. We've got a team of 12 guys making it, and we're selling it too. Legally (Already posted how). This looks better then most n00bs, but it's still not all that it could be.

1.) I think you should move this to the Showcase forum.
2.)jEDIkIRBY, nowhere in his post did he ask what "game" you were making, and how yours "is just so much better than his".

If I had my way, I'd be in a game where I played an angry doorknob that won't let the player past. You know, one of those doors.

Thanks, go easy on Kirby though since he could be telling the truth. I would like to see screenshots of his game.

To tell you the truth... RPG maker actually isn't all that legal. Try using google or Kazaa.

Sure draw a sprite of your character and I'll put you in.

There is a english translated version, i have it as well, it has major issues tho, some stuff isnt translated still, and some of the text glitches, like the letter 'W' never takes up its own space... so if you type anything that has a W in it the letter after it will be printed right on top of it. Im pretty sure there is more, I havent messed with it too much myself. RPGMaker irritates me, I'll get goin really good on a game and then I run into some small problem (like not being able to get a stupid in-game movie to play out right) and i quit.

Oh, and RPG Maker is legal, but you cant use copyrighted sprites (like seen above with the Frog Sprites) You're supposed to use someone elses that gives you permission or make your own.

Moving this over to Showcase Forum. It's meant for things like this.

Very cool work, Cloud! I was raised on a steady diet of sprite-based RPGs, so you earned my kudos regardless. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

I think the fact that you are using RPG maker in the first place gives you no right to boast like that.

I know 'Cloud' well enough for him to not get mad at me, the post wasn't for you people, the post was for him. My thread contained everything he asked for, and some information about mine, I still commented on his.

The reason why I boast, is I'm using the Japanese version, the non-illegal version (And yes, RM2K Translated is very illegal) and we're not using the base of the game at all. Nothing standard is being used, not even character events. Events are strictly drawn from base coding on the Events start diologue, and nothing at all is dirrived from the map making system, or the base character expansion system. In a sense, we've redone the entire RM2K only using its language, which is suprisingly versitile, even though it's not a coding language at all, it's just verb-functions.

Try posting a demo of it, because the looks of a game effect nothing on how it plays. Don't include RM2K files, and require it so that you've got to have the RTP (Which isn't illegal if you had it before the act was passed) or Massassi will get strange looks from ASCII, and that's not good.

Thanks Edward, but I'm not exactly making a space game so I don't really need the space sprites. I appreciate the effort though. Cool Matty you say you're pretty good, but the important part is. Do you enjoy making sprites?

In particular, this post could have said 'I'm not even using the base of it, so I'm not really using RM2K. But you had to extoll the grandeur of your project yet again.

I've told this to JediKirby before, but what Don Miguel said, was that "Distribution of your projects, for profital gain, is ILLIGAL. A lawsuit is most likely to occur to your faults", As Ascii has already said. Regaurdless, Japanese Retail, or English "Illigal" translation; Creating projects that are for profital gain using the RM2k Developer, are "Illigal".

jedikirby, is it even possible for you to post on someone else's showcase thread without hijacking it for one of your infinitely many projects? to say it's annoying is an understatement.
A desperate disease requires a dangerous remedy.

A major source of objection to a free economy is precisely that it gives people what they want instead of what a particular group thinks they ought to want. Underlying most arguments against the free market is a lack of belief in freedom itself.

Let's not start on this. The liscense I've got is strictly for the usage of selling the games for a profit. If you honestly don't believe me, give me a while to find a scanner somewhere and I'll try to scan the documents.

Sine, I can point you to about 20 threads in the showcase forum, and I've got 4 projects as of now, 4. Hijacking is not even close to the word, it's more like... bringing the autors attention to it. Nearly all of my posts, unless stated otherwise, are intended for the maker of the thread. That's all.

Well, I suggest we all shut up about me since mister cloud has completely deemed himself out of the conversation pretaining to me and my game, so let's drop it, because he obviously has.

Your game looks good.

This is kind of off-topic, but something I'd really like to see is a new fully 2d sprite game, using the best sprite graphics available, but still 2d.

If any producer made that, it'd appeal to newer gamers for graphics and gameplay, and it'd appeal to us old farts from the 16bit era for sheer nastalgic value.

2d is also synonymous with 'cheap and fast production,' too.

He means Cheap and Fast production, meaning the company doesn't have to spend as much money, and it takes less time to produce.

Some gamers still realize a game is not about graphics, it's about fun. I do understand where your coming from, but a game designer once said, "if a good game is a good game it doesn't matter if it's 2d or 3d."

Unfortunatley, there are many many games released each year that do not make it on the shelf of your local Best Buys or Electronics Boutique. And unless they can get the right marketing for the game, the game will most likely not. Of course, you could aim for shareware which is the easier and maybe more profitable path.

JediKirby, you're not going by the GNU license, are you?
