Well, the good news is I haven't burned out on this project yet...actually I was really getting into it. The bad news is that I'm now getting a MAX_SHADER error. I've searched the net and can't seem to find a solution to this short of removing a lot of shaders which would make the level look a lot less...good...or split it into two levels, which wouldn't work since I'm only about 1/4th done with what I wanted for this level, and I don't really want a 4 level set that takes place in a relatively small area. So unless anyone can help, these could be the last shots

...the worst part is it took me FOREVER to get those probe wires positioned correctly

finished the area I was showcasing at the end of the last thread.

[http://forums.massassi.net/html/eek.gif] that first shot is KEWL!!

Needs some detail on the rest of the room though.

I really like the guy on the table... what was your thinking behind his situation? Is he being genetically altered? Tortured? Sadly, I know nothing about shaders, but I honestly hope you can find a solution. Perhaps porting it to JA would solve something.

Sine ran into this error a while ago also. He found a way around it, so go ahead and get in touch with him. He'll have your level progressing in no time. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Looks great! I like the wires.

Yeah, the rest of that room isn't done at all. I'm glad the wires are going over well, they were a huge pain to position correctly so they were all going into him. It's supposed to be sort of a genetic modification thing. About the shader thing, I'm going to talk to sine about it next time I see him.

Call me crazy, but i think its fair to say that you should start working on acual details other than a whole bunch of sweet glowey shaders. i mean yeah they are cool... but there has to be more than just a glowey dome and some terminals. Try and add pipes or something to the walls, and check getting that glass texture fixed. i think normalizing it fixes that brown blotchy kinda thing. Oh yeah... and if you wanna take better looking screens you can go to the console and type these in:

cg_drawgun 0
cg_draw2d 0

Those should make your HUD, crosshair, and your gun model in 1st person dissapear so you can get more of your level in and not the flasy health bar. (change the 0 to 1 to bring them back if you want) Looking cool.

Cazor is right, there isn't much getting done, and indeed, the shaders are nice, and so are those curves in the second shot, but the first room you showcased was waaay too empty and plain. oh, btw, why post a new thread for every new couple of screenies!?!?!

Holy eye candy! I like the detail already. But I must ask, what is that gun?

I'll post later with detailed instructions as to where two of you who posted here can go and what acts you can commit upon yourselves once you get there. Maybe if you had ANY reading skills, you would have noticed that I mentioned that THE FIRST ROOM ISN'T CLOSE TO DONE. What the hell is the problem with people? You're like children who get too caught up in the pictures to actually read anything. I write things for a reason! READ THEM!

Look pumpjack, I don't know what crawled into which of your orifices and died, but drop the attitude. Your **** snide remarks have made and continue to make me never want to edit again. I'm tired of seeing them in EVERY SINGLE THREAD I post. Do me a favor, stay the hell off of my threads until you grow up.

And don't even think about claiming that **** "BUT I WAS JUST GIVING YOU CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM!" BS. Constructive criticism is what Sine gives me, as in "why don't you consider adding...?" or "would it look better if..." not "BORING MAKE IT BETTER!"

And I'll post as many threads as I **** well please!

Know what, **** it. I'm sick of this. I'm sick of the attitudes of some very obnoxious people around here. Project dead.

My god... i offerered you tips to add detail to your level and you blew it back in my face. I even gave you pointers on taking better screenshots, and you took it as bull****. I THINK OFFERING SOMEONE HELP IS A DAMNED GOOD EXAMPLE OF BEING GROWN UP. You need to learn how to take people's critisizm and use it so that you dont think everyone i out to make you look bad. If me being brutally honest and giving you ways to improve your level makes you nto want to edit, then maybe you arent the type of person who should edit. And have you every guessed that sine and i have different backgrounds on what we think a good level is? I never once said "boring make it better" I kindly suggested you to add detail. If thats what is making you not work on this map, then frankly i dont care, thats wrong and i had no part in making you have that desicion.

While I do agree that Cazor's first post could have been worded more politely, I also find that your response to that post was rather out-of-proportion. I really do think this level has potential, and it'd be a shame to see the effort put into it thus far go to waste over something as trivial as the wording of a few suggestions. I do realize that you say you've had problems in the past, and these I cannot speak of as I did not witness them. Based on what I've seen in this thread, though, I really do think that trashing an entire project due to a forum post is a bit much. Just my two cents.

I agree with Muurn. You dish out heat all the time, but it seems you can't really take it. Calm down.

What's the precise error you got? Just MAX_SHADER? An internal shader is formed for every unique lightmap and texture combination. You can cut down on internal shaders by decreasing lightmap detail on parts that don't need it, using vertex lighting, and most importantly, waiting for JA, because JA has increased shader limits to accomdate their larger levels.

Talk about an overreaction. I spotted no attitude in Cazor's post.

Since i suppose you'll keep working on this map, Darko, here's an idea i just thought up. You could try to make that prisoner in the first shot not influenced by force powers, else people can push/pull him off of the table, which may look weird as the wires won't move with him.

OR you could have them follow the prisoner and when they snap they go spewing sparks everywhere and flying around like wounded snakes!

Darko, continue the project. I think it's coming along nicely. But geez, calm down a bit. I remember you going haywire over my comment about the statue models used in your Romanesque type level! Many people had some good things to say and constructive criticism about this level. Just take it easy. Criticism is a hard thing to take as an artist, I know that firsthand being an actor. Keep on going, it will be worth it.

You have to learn to deal with people like Cazor if you want to show your stuff off on Massassi. Every once in awhile, someone like him comes along and tries to take a nick out of my legacy...

I dont see where i was trying to "take a nick" out of anything. I forget when giving brutally honest criticism and tips on taking better looking screenshots is a bad thing.
