Those are realistic, imo. I've seen this movie during science, which showed a hell lot of those stars!!

What it needs is a spaceship approaching the planet. Something like this:

Otherwise, looks amazing.

Perhaps a sun? I realize that not every entity out there has a sun to call its own, but we've become accustomed to seeing such things with a sun somewhere in the background ... it could be what you're "missing" [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

Not really. Since you're looking at the sunlit side of the planet/moon/whatever, its light would drown out all surrounding starlight. It'd look something like this:

The planet is fine, but I find the sky to be the problem. Try desaturating the blues/indigos/violets more, and turn down the brightness on the stars a bit.

I think if you maybe change the light angle on the planet it'd also help. Somehow seeing that planet completely lit on one side just doesn't seem right... Even though the moon has such a phase...

That looks really cool, but I think I heard that the Apollo astronauts couldn't see any stars on their trips to the moon.

Looks great, but I think the main thing is actually the land. Look how it seems so 3d all over, it looks like every coastline is a HUGE cliff.

Also, I think there might be too much purple in the sky, and too many stars, and you might want to make the glow around the planet a bit less noticable.

Other than that, it looks like my home planet.

It looks like the most direct sun light is hitting a polar cap. Thats a big problem for the rest of the planet. As for the rest of the shot, it needs some sort of ship.

It looks nice, but:

It'd be nice if it was a LOT darker, to the point where you could only see a crescent of the planet.

The planet looks too... bumpy. I like the idea but it's a little overexaggerated.

And maybe add a little bit of weather? I don't know what kind of planet you're trying to make it look like, but a few clouds would look really cool.

Otherwise, amazing work.

There are already clouds. Swirling realistically, no less.

Sorry for not replying sooner, been away for the last few days. Thanks for all your reply's and I think the idea about a ship is a good one. Also gammasts you're right about the light.

I guess you're right. I cant really keep the light on the planet and all the stars. Either one or the other.

Agreed, I see what you mean its definatley too big. I'll tone it down a little.

I'm not sure, the planet could just have huge cliffs all over the planet, I mean look at the moon you can quite clearly see big cliffs and craters on that. I will try taking the embossing down a little though just to see.
