Ok. I am showcasing my stupidity I suppose.
Here are some shots of a "guy" in Milkshape.
They are flat shaded shots... I have never used MilkShape, or modeled anything. I need help with the rest of this... I was using a tutorial that someone found and translated (it was in German). The rest of it isn't translated, and the duplicating wasn't translated yet either, I just decided to do it, probably shouldn't have yet...

It looks like a good start.
they sure have taken their time translating that tutorial.

I've used Milkshape for a while now and I've foudn the best way to learn is just to click stuff adn see what happens.
it's a farly straight foward program and most of the command you can easily find in the drop down menus.

and take note of the options that show up for each editing mode (rotating, moving etc.) they are veryusefull.

[edit]also, right click for smoothshade, wireframe and textured options.

for your first model its a good start. my advice would be to just keep it as simplistic as possible and save separate files often(for use later so you dont have to start from scratch when you start getting more comfortable) I'm assuming by the polys that this is for JO, so you may want to get the editing tools and all that and read over the tutorial by Spacemonkey as well as the addendum written for that.
The biggest thing you may want to worry about now is building it to the bone structure Here is a site to download the skeleton specifically designed for milkshape ( http://www.polycount.com ) somewhere in there. I think the tutorials are there too, look around.

Keep up the good work, and dont give up after you see all the crap you gotta do when youre done with the mesh [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

Happy Modeling
