I can agree with that. I've seen FAR to many cases where a lens flare has been used WAY wrong and out of place. If used correctly however, it can be a nice touch.
The circle inside the corona is a problem. I could make it smaller, but then it looks more like a sun burst instead of a sun. I tried to correct it with the lens flare. It furthers, to an extent, the illusion of a bright object. But you can only crank it so far before your image starts to wash out. I think that was set to about 150 or 200 with a gradient overlay ontop so it didn't continue past the planets. Any bright than that and, as I said, the image washes out. Before that even happens though, you loose the detail of the sun itself.
Having everything in the corners was a mistake. It seemed at the time that where ever I placed them they looked wrong. In the coners they just looked... less... wrong. Yea.
Keep in mind this is something I haven't tried to do in at least a year. I was playing around, it looked semi cool, and I KNOW it's not nearly as cool as it could be. To be honest, I'm curious as to why no one has quesitoned the rings on the bottom planet. Those are REALLY shoddy looking.
I'm working and expirimenting on a newer picture now...
