This is gonna be a duel/FFA level for JA, largely in the same vein as my SP level. I'm doing this primarily because I'm burnt out right now and need a change of pace. All I have is a Radiant shot until I can get some JA SDK lovin' (and, preferably, some GTKRadiant JA lovin' as well).

Oh it'll be textured. I just need to get everything together and then wait on Raven for the JA SDK and hopefully a speedy GTKRadiant release with JA support.. and then.. BAM.. it'll be out. I'm gonna be doing a portal skybox, etc.

I also must figure out how in the world to get terrain on 4 sides of a cube (3 sides of which will be vertical cliffs, the 4th will be under the structures, and I might just put in some archi down there and make it part of the level. I dunno yet).

Also, just got called in to work an extra two days, so yay! no time to do ANYTHING! WOOHOO! I HATE MY JOB! SOME GAME COMPANY HIRE ME ON MY VAGUELY CRAPULENT WORK!

I can help you out there on the terrain. I have a few techniques developed for my cave system I am making for my SP level. It's not near perfect, and can be downright bossy if you don't do it right, but the performance hit is small, and doesn't require much work. It just involves patches, and my special vertex placement. It works well, but it takes some effort.

I'd actually prefer not to use patches for much more than detail stuff, because there's the issue of the automatic deformation. You can't define the user's geometric quality settings, and thus the patches may look fine at high detail, but when set at normal or low you can get gaps. The automatic deformation, while a good thing as it saves polys, can still show gaps, specifically on something as large as this terrain would need to be..

I'm going to have to play with a heightmap. I'll see what I can do and if I can get the right sense of scale, without completely deforming the terrain.

All you do in Gensurf really is put a number in "random seed" and "roughness" and it's good. At least, that's what I do, and it turns out nice. :\

what I'd need is a bit more involved than that.
