Cazor wanted me to showcase this, something I started for JA a few days ago... anyway, any suggesstions and stuff? Think I'm going to try and do something with the floor to make it look not so flat or something
oh no

Muwahaha... took me long enough to get you to showcase it. And guys.. this is no newb, this guy taught me how to edit, so be nice! I really like this level, its gives a real earth meets tech feel. A grate floor would work, too.

Very nice. Lighting and texturing are lovely. The ceilings, if they're rock, might look better either as simple patch meshes or trisouped to make them seem a bit more natural. If that's what you were going for, anyway. The floor, as you said, could use a little detail work. Not overkill, mind you, but something, as it does look a bit flat currently. Perhaps some trim along the wall. I personally wouldn't go for something flashy like intricate floor designs, etc. as from my POV that's not really what this hallway is about.

I personally think that one of the greatest misconceptions about level design is that everything HAS to be insanely detailed and intricate. Not to sound insulting, but the shapes I'm seeing there are pretty simple, and yet it all works together fantastically. The texturing and the lighting only helps this. Simplicity in design can be even more aesthetically pleasing than the most complex and intricate architecture that you can accomplish. This exemplifies that.

If I can bother you for a second, is that one of the standard texture sets that comes with JA? If not, then where'd you find it? I may have a use for those... [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

Hmm.. Maybe toying around with the lights there a bit? They're the only thing bothering me though, I like the rest.

I love it. Reminds me of half-life in a good way.

The floor is baren. If you're going to use that much detail in a planar hallway, something needs to be added to that floor; even if it just decorative grooves.

Thanks for all the suggestions, working on that floor... and Gonk, the majority of the textures are JA textures, look under textures/vjun... hope to have more screens soon

I think you should put lights sticking out of the floor lining the sides... but not touching them, a few feet from the walls. That would look cool.

I rather like the flat floor.
not sure why, I just think it fits.
seems more real, if you are going to add more detail to it I'd say put something recesed along the sides, nothing coming out.
maby change the texture to somthing that would tile to give it some rythum to match the wall & ceiling.

Reminds me of Unreal 2. Nice job. But remember, a hallway doesn't make a level. Don't stop halfway like I always do...

It does look nice and solid, but there's one thing really irking me.

I mean, besides the fact that you associate with Cazor [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

While it's composed of nice solid segment, the supports etc that brace the walls don't seem to uhmmm... flow into one another. It just seems like there's a chunk supporting the cieling, but it doesn't connect to the crossbars, or wrap around them or anything.

Otherwise, lighting/color is swell.
