The New Jedi Order- Jedi Temple

"Deep in under the New Republic Capitol a Building blueprint is found. It is the old Jedi Temple the plans are taken to Yavin where head of the New Jedi Order Luke Skywalker orders construction of a New temple. Built by the force it is designed from both Massassian and Old Temple Designs. It is built among the ancent ruins of the Temples. Where Massassians once walked."
Figured I would appeal to this fourm 8) lol well here is my Current Project. Seems well-designed. My only complaint is the sudden drop to the skybox, a high wall or a line of trees or something would block that. Good job, otherwise. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

[Didn't see the inside shots. Looks okay, maybe a bit too many of those desk things, cut that down by about half and it'll work. Also, the waterfall doesn't look realistic. Ask Zell about that, he has a great waterfall in one of his upcoming levels.]

Looks very nice and clean. Though i suggest porting it to JA so you can get better waterfall effects (and better everything [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]). The one you have right now looks like a block of water (if that is in fact a waterfall)

Wow. Amazing. I didn't like the blue carpet at first, but then it just hit me with a smack of realism. Amazing.

Nice use of tree model placement along with the plants. I like. Also good structural and architectural development.

Hmm, well, there are a few things bothering me on this, Don't get me wrong, I do like it, but.. some things appear to look bad. Things as textures. In the outside area's, textures look very repetitive, and some are misaligned (i.e. vines in the second pic). I agree about the weaterfall, and there's one other thing I miss, and that's good lighting. This is just a bit too bright, and certainly not realistic looking. Also, I wonder, you haven't been compiling with SOF2MAP, have you? (SOF2MAP = JK2Radiant compiler)

Blue Carpet:
The Jedi temple in Episode 2 has that same carpet...Thats why I have it here
Complie- Yes I Complie it with the Complier that comes with GTK Radiant.
Repeating Textures/Texture alignments-
Remember I am not done so... I sould say that Arctecture is about the only thing really complete for the most part. I was planing to try to cover some of the repeats up such as the ones on the ground. With Fountains and stuff. The walls I am stumped.

Looks great, but yeah such a thing wasn't actually built during the scope of any of the novels. The Jedi were using the old Rebel base that was built from one of the Massassi pyramids.

However since Yavin fell to the Vong and the temple was destroyed there's nothing to say that once the moon is taken back it COULDN'T be rebuilt like that.

It looks really nice, but you need logical light sources, for the outdoor areas, use a skylight in a shader. And I think the blue is a little to pronounced, try breaking it up a little.

Saxman, some people might appreciate your entirely useless facts, but if you read his post, I don't think he cares.

Here's an example of using a pillar for breaking up repetitive textures.

BTW: This screenshot was taken from a Raven-made map, so no hijack here!!

Well, thanks for the compliment, but:

A) Due to errors, I ditched that map project.
B) You can't actually go in the waterfall like real water. Blasters leave burn marks on it. It's just a bevel textured with a waterfall texture. There are fx_runners that have the fx file: waterspout.efx, placed in the fall and pointed downwards. That's all, seriously.

Otherwise, looks great.

[EDIT: You just inspired me to start mapping again. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif] ]

Use JA shaders, they're better anyway.

You can make a real waterfall that you go into. Use a water shader with no texture, and use EFX to make the water itself. This would allow you to step into it.

Looks kickass overall i really dig the ancient temple kinda of dealy with the vines all along the walls. Inside though i believe it should take a a step up in terms of luxary and technology. Put some cool metallics around there get rid of the stone look of the outside cuz it looks to dated on the inside or try to mix more technology type things in with the stone. Give it a cleaner look and you'll be sittin tight.

Saxman, although that fact was interesting, and I did not know it, it doesn't in any way make his level wrong, or impossible. Suppose he even wanted to cling to the 'Vong' storyline, well then why would every temple ever created on Yavin have been mentioned in SW books? They wouldn't have been.
