That is a lot of flame...

Is it brighter ingame? Otherwise, it looks awesome.

I think you overdid the flames in that last shot. Theres just too many of them...and it's not realisticly bright enough with that many.

Otherwise looks good.

Good to see you finally got them shaders working. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

But I'm wondering.. Are the bouncepads still in?

Edit: And it needs FOG!

Large Image!

The fire fits just fine with the scale of this map. The amount of torches in the map is identical to what I had showcased in JO; all that is different is the fire effect itself. The lighting will be a little brighter, because -bounce will be used for the beta compile... so the contrast will be lightened overall.

I will not make it brighter because I want it to be somewhat dark. The darkness will give more of a mood to a saber duel, which is fitting since this map was made to be a duel map. Light cast by the sabers will easily be seen, and it'll make players stand out that much more.

Fog is being added right now, and I'll show a few shots later tonight for opinions.

Don't brighten in up too much. I like the atmosphere

Here's a view of the fog, but without the _lightmapscale:

I don't know if I'm going to keep the fog. For starters, I have to redo the gates a bit so that the fog effect doesn't go all the way up the sides. Also, the fog is rendered on the entire player model, even though the fog is about waist-high. I dunno...

Hrmmm... okay... gonna come out and say i hate the fog. Maybe if you could do something that gradually dissapears. I think there was something like that in the vjun sentinel MP map. This just looks wierd and totally defeats the purporse IMO.

[edit]oh and it wouldnt make sense for there to be fog over that grate with fire underneath it. Since fog needs mousture, wouldnt it stay away from fire?[/edit]

Darker fog would look waaay better here, and it would give a lovely atmosphere...

That room needs a lot of fog (or smog) and more brighter. Flames like that and in that quantity would really brighten up that room.

It's way too dark for the number of fires you've placed. That makes it look bad regardless of what kind of atmosphere you were going for.

Zul's point was the first thing I noticed. Second, I think the fog would look much better as a brownish color and if you could get it to scale gradually into nothing.

I think this map is one flame short of becoming 'Hell'. Either get ride of some of the flaming torches, or start making some pentagram textures and Satan 3dos. Or you could just turn the fog into flames. [ques heavy metal bg music]

my thought, if i were to use fog, would be to use a q3 hellfog-type fog on the ground, and a dark fog at the top of the map. i'm still leaning towards no fog, because it kills much of the _lightmapscale, especially dark-tinted fogs. as i have said quite a few times, lighting will be brighter with -bounce added in the compile.

if you don't know what -bounce does, it essentially takes light cast within the map and bounces it off the surface with the color of the texture used on said surface. contrast is lightened, and a more realistic lighting effect is produced. so let me make this clear again -- it will be brighter in the beta/final compile, especially with a -bounce of 4-8.

i may also use a different fire effect. the whole point of this thread was just to showcase the map being in jedi academy. also, a beta will also be ready by this weekend, but will not be an open beta.

i may just do a compile with -bounce in it to show you guys how much of a difference it makes, but for now, sleep calls.

Far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far too much fire in that second shot. It looks overcrowded and too busy.
