Remember my old project? The one that got SOTD a little while ago? Well, it's dead. It had another error, an un-fixable one, so I am starting a new map in a new locale. New storyline. SP. Inspired by Rush's Jedi Temple level.

Yeah. The basic jist of it is: You are an outcast imperial stormtrooper, just recently booted from a garrison base on the nasty mudball planet of [I'll think of a name later]. You come into a storm, and decide to take shelter at these here ruins. Horror ensues. *scary music* [http://forums.massassi.net/html/cool.gif]

This one may not have big bad errors like the last two, because there will be much less terrain, which was causing many of the problems.

It's quite dark..so..maybe up the lighting a bit? What I can see looks nice enough.
A desperate disease requires a dangerous remedy.

A major source of objection to a free economy is precisely that it gives people what they want instead of what a particular group thinks they ought to want. Underlying most arguments against the free market is a lack of belief in freedom itself.

Small update:

Look closely enough, you see raindrops. Each one of those is an fx_runner, because an fx_rain came out of the walls and looked wierd. :\

Yes. I, too, am entering the fire craze. No, this is to ad a sense of spookiness, the sense that the inhabitants were waiting for you. Creepy!

The storyline is now: You are an imperial stormtrooper, and you are fed up with your commanding officer. He makes you do all these stuid things and is really mean to you. Your garrison hates you. So, you naturally pack your rifle and run off. You are caught in a storm and find shelter at an old abandoned temple. As you enter, though, the storm ends, and the lights flicker on... This will all eventually be done via cutscenes and such.

Yes yes? No no?

[EDIT: You'll notice the torch in which the flame is in casts no shadow. What is the command for BSP Patchshadows?]

Ugh, those textures looks bland, and those vines are quite pixelated. Try making the shaders a tad less big.

For Patchshadows, add -patchshadows to the lighting process.

Trust me, it's just the screenshot. They are in no way pixelated... it's crappy JPG compression that's the problem... It is the Raven vine texture, it's not amplified in any way... shrunk a tad, actually.

2003-09-28, 6:21 AM #11
That's just the problem. Raven's vine shader was ment to be used at distance, merely.

Since he was a stormtrooper, wouldn't your base weapon be a stormtrooper rifle? ^.^ Just nitpicking lol, looks good so far.

Actually, you don't have a weapon, not until you pick one up. Now, if only there was a way to have fists replace the stun baton...

[EDIT: The storyline was modified even more. Your garrison is caught in a battle, and you are seperated. You wander the wilderness in search of them.]

Look, some of us aren't rolling in the big bucks, and some of us don't have a chance to get JA until Christmas. For now, tough it out.

[EDIT: Sorry if that sounded harsh. I didn't mean it to sound that way. Anyways, how do I add -patchshadows? I tried adding the BSP command:
Code:
bsp_Q3Map2: (final) BSP -light, -extra, -meta, -vis, -light, -super 2, -patchshadows

I added that to the menu commands in Project settings. I BSP with that, and it says "Failed to execute the following command: bsp_Q3Map2: (final) BSP -light, -extra, -meta, -vis, -light, -super 2, -patchshadows Check that the file exists and that you don't run out of system resources." What do I do to make it work?]

And theres no animations. Like if you spawn the npc 'glider' i belive it spawns a stormie that 'punches; in essence but really just walks up to you and you take damage.

set ( /*@SET_TYPES*/ "SET_WEAPON", /*@WEAPON_NAMES*/ "WP_MELEE" );

Guess I'll need to whip out the screenshots of Kyle beating up Stormtroopers Agent Smith style in JO >.>
Although I must admit, I had to do several tries before it worked, partially because it wouldn't work with my usual cheat activation code helpusobi 1, but devmapall. Anyway, I'll go and find the topic on Lucasforums.com that explains how to get a hold of the fists in JO ^.^ I might have mistyped a few commands.

Well yeah, but console commands work just as fine, and I just made a wee bit of a typo back there XD it was supposed to be give weaponnum 14 rather than weapnum 14
My bad XD

But oh well, if you want to start a level with the fists scripting probably would be better.

All right, I'll try that script. Right now I'm at school, so later tonight. Thanks. Updates soon as I can get this script here working...

There is a hallway, it is black and dark. You blindly walk down it, and the light above you suddenly flickers on. This reveals a mirror, and as you look in it, lightning flickers and reveals a ghostly stormtrooper just down the hallway. You turn around, but you can't see him. You can only see him in the mirror. He will wait 3 seconds, and trun and go down the hallway. I am going to have scary things like this happen sometimes. Right now, All I have work is the light flickering on, as well asthe lightning, and the stormie appearing (he isn't ghostly though [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif] ), but the lightning doesn't go off, and the stormie is visible out of the mirror. I'll fix it soon, though. I also made a few of thebeams broken to add alevel of decay.

Okay, considering your storyline I have an idea for the main character's look.

Though it would be easier to just use a Stormie model, I have another idea that may take work but would pay off. Make a model of a guy just in the black jumpsuit, his hair messed up and with only part of his armour and and other equipment on him. For instance, he'd wear the stormtrooper's utility belt and have a few other things such as the blaster rifle's holster etc. Just an idea. Don't know if you'd like to go through with it. My perception of the character is that he has a will to survive, so he takes off the stuff that weighs him down and he doesn't really need. I really wish I could draw well so I could show you what I mean. Anyways, just my two cents.
