Something or other inspired me to make a linear binary font.. sew.. this is about the 5.revision/remaking of what i came up with, probably the most viable incarnation as scary as that may be.

basically it's based on a linear ogham style, there's a horizontal trunkline then two twiglines at the top and bottom. Leaves on the trunk represent 1s, leaves on the twigs represent 0s. So.

Code:
======

      ==
========
====  ==

    ==

Is 01010011, or S.

Well yes, it looks cool, and the concept is neat... but how would one *ever* go about reading that?

Well at slightly larger point sizes the bits are pretty easy to pick out, then it's just a matter of memorising the binary ascii codes [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

It wouldn't be too hard i'd think to make it machine-readable, ie 2x2 barcodes and such.

So... you're basically making a real-world kind of Matrix code?

-Oh boy. Here we go. It starts with Asimo, before you know it...

It's our All-American product. We got the idea from the Germans. The French hate it. It goes for half in Canada. The English have a version, but it's not so hot. There's cheap knockoffs in India. The Japanese are devolping a sleeker, sexier model. Made in China.

Well i was partly inspired by this delicious mind-f*** of an alphanumeric system: http://omniglot.com/writing/12480.htm
And partly by something i don't remember now.

And visual representations of binary are tastey in any form really.

Looks cool.

I made up my own dinary code once... each letter was 24 bits long. Needless to say, it took a terribly long time to write. It was rather easy to read if you knew how, though.

I'll break you =-o

I was working on another system prior to that one that had each 8bit thing broken down into four quadrants that read in order:
14 14
23 23 &c
which gave the ability to have the bits more distinct but wound up being a lot less intuitive and linear.
