Textures and lighting thrown in to show what I've got, eventually I'll find some nice dark and evil textures for this [Pa`an] Grey Jedi Temple. I hope to post the reference sketches I've been doodling all day. I'll see if there's a scanner anywhere at school I can 'Abuse.'

Questions? Comments? Ice-T's Mullet-fro?

Yes, new textures are needed NOW. That floor texture is awful and the walls aren't much better.

I hope that's just the basic archi and you're going to add in lots of pretty details, becuase right now it just kinda looks.... well... bland.

I'll withhold final judgement until I see more screenies however.

Very plain, needs details... make every other piller a different texture, put some brushes on the ceiling with light textures, make the ceiling/floor archi more bendy, maybe add in some pipes in the floor and put a grateing for the player to walk on.

[Edit: Ok pipes and a grating wouldn't make much sence, but at least do something with the ceiling and walls?]

[Edit: Oops, It's JK! Well, still, cleave and extrude bits of the ceiling or something, maybe put in lights...]

Might I mention this is a wip...

And once again, textures and lighting were thrown on for looks.

The main hall is meant to be big, dark, and empty. It'll be 10 times bigger than it is right now, and it'll have some custom Brad_S candlestick 3do's littering it, not to mention some bad *** textures I'll one day find. I'm also going to make the whole place with no real lighting, and all extra lighting, since I'm lazy and don't want to deal with JK's horrid lighting.

Did you people even read the littel block of text under the pictures where it says the lighting and texture are temporary? [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

I'll wait until I see a more detailed screen before really commenting

Wow, did you just cleave all the surfaces into about a thousand smaller ones? Because that's the only way I can think of to get such lighting in JK. If that's the case, how are you going to extrude/adjoin anything?

Definately needs more detail. Just looking at it, you'd never know what it was, what its supposed to be, even what game its for.

I didn't want you to comment on the lighting or textures, the archi is the main focus here. I'm also going to remake this area, because I'm not happy with how it turned out in comparison to the concept sketches. And yes, I chopped it into a million peices to get the lighting, but it'll be all surface lighting when I'm through.

Concept sketches in a few minutes if I can get them into the darn computer.

These are my concept sketches from which this level is born:

[http://www.massassi.net/ec/images/13251.jpg] Here is the front view. The towers are connected to the main building via buttrices and supports. Lower buttrices are seen on either side of the main entrance in this shot(Below), these will provide an outdoor underpass to the outdoor sanctuary.

Outdoor Buttrice underpass, Snake Drainpipes.

The overhead view of the entire Temple, shows technical view of temple.

Side view of the entire Temple, shows orb-trees and tower alignment. Also shows side-view of the indoor sanctuary's entrance.

This is the Concept Sketch that influenced the above JED shot. I will soon be redoing the design of the JED level to match the concept greater.

And of course, lighting and texturing is only for show and tell, which means temporary, which means don't say 'The textures and lighting DEFINETLY Need...' because I know already, so don't say it. It's also a WiP, so speak now or forever hold your peace, because I'm adding in my ideas, and whoever elses ideas look good to me.

Needs dynamic lighting for the pillars, definitely. Looks pretty good, though.

Those pillars could use another texture, there is a bit too much contrast imho.

I love everything else of it.

It's simply amazing how well people read...

He said it was ALL temporary. All he's showing off is the archi. All he wants feedback on is the archi. IGNORE the lighting and textures for now.

----

Looks good Kirby, but I'd suggest maybe making the arches outside along the walls wider and maybe taller.

Can you give us some idea of how big those pillar really are? Right now they just look to skinny to me...

I think I'm going to try my luck and make the pillars Archi since I'd like to rescale the whole map multiple times, and I hate dynamic lighting. Resizing and re-lighting 3DOS takes all too much work. The other option is to lower the gamma on the texture Clan_Rutherven is making for me, and use that on the pillars. I still don't want to go through the hassle of resizing it every single time.

I'm going to have to redo the outdoors since I realized the Rise and Run for the buttrices are all too short. I'm also going to incorporate a skybox, that is if I can find one that suits the scene.

I've got a small questions about skyboxes: There's no questioning that the Skybox 3DO will be taking space in more than one sector, how do I keep it from phazing in and out as I move through sectors?

Either split it up into pieces soi each piece is in it's own sector, which is probably the best methor, or you can use the "lazy" method and put multiple copies of the 3do in the same physical space, each copy having a different sector number in SECTOR, for each of the sectors it occupied. This method might cause z-fighting tho.

The largest problem with both of those methods is that the skybox will rotate...
