But you inspired me. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

The Borstel NK-7 Ion Cannon:

547 polygons... I'm new to modeling so I'm not sure if thats too high or too low. I'll probably add a base for it to rotate on, even though there wasnt one shown in the reference pic I used. For those of you who have the Essential Guide to Weapons and Technology, I used the pics on page 85. I couldnt find any good pics online but Cazor managed to find this one from the CCG:

This is one of the first models I've made with any program besides JED so dont be too harsh in your criticism.

The barrel should probably be a bit longer, methinks

and, if I'm not mistaken, the little line in the pic right above those.. notchy things on the bottom, is where it rotates. *shrug*

i think the barrell should be on more of an angle (upwards)when it's at the top.
looks great tho. good to see another SW:CCG enthusiast around here.

According to the diagrams in the aforementioned Essentrial Guide, the barrel is only very slightly tilted upwards. I think it just looks so high in the picture because its being viewed from such an extreme angle. And unfortunately, no, I'm not much of a CCG fan, Cazor found the pic, not me. h8.

Rather good, of course. Yet not unexpected, since you can do amazing things in just about any 3d program.

Yeah, I tried my hand at Wings3d last night for the first time myself. I'm very impressed with the program! Can't wait to practice some more. Awesome job on the ion cannon!

Oooh, I really like that. I've always wanted to try 3d modelling, but I was never able to. I am learning JED though. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

I saw in your profile that you go to RIT, I DO TOO! What a coincidence. What's your major?

This Wings3D sounds interesting.... if I see enough models being made with it, even my laziness will go and get it to try it out.

JEDIGURL: Aerospace engineering. Although I will probably be changing in the next few weeks to either Comp Sci or Environmental Science.

Its very interesting stuff. I started doing because I always liked to design spaceships and planes as a kid. I'm going to stop doing it because I've found constraints in design enforced by engineering methods and procedures are inhibiting my creative side. I would much rather have free range to design anything I want the way I want it to look, I just have too much creativity that needs to be expressed. Which is why I'm considering going the computer gaming route, with computer games you can design anything you want and no one will really care if it could work in real life.
