Ok, I’m in need of suggestions and criticism.

The link below is to a desktop I’m making out of my last overnight Bryce render. I’m still working on it and nothing is final. The actual background (what I’ve done to the render) is done. It’s the rest of it I’m working on. The top tab I think is about 75% done, unless I decide to totally revamp it again. Nothing is done to the bottom one.

So why am I here? Well, things I made an hour ago, like the bar graph and tangled line graph on the top right side, which I loved and though looked awesome then, I just don’t exactly love anymore. I think I’m having way to many second thoughts on pieces of it, and I want an outside opinion.

When all is finished, I think I’m going to release two versions to DeviantArt, a green one, and the one you see now. This, like the rest of the picture, is not final however.

I don’t know what else to tell you really. Just start commenting and I guess I’ll work from that as to what I really want to know.

Here be the link - http://members.lycos.co.uk/firestarterinc/graphics/IsotopeProof1.jpg

Thanks in advance.

Like most of your work, it's busy, and very inconsistant. Now, whether these things are good or bad is up to the particular person. My opinion is that I'd rather see some more consistancies, but I like the business.

The name fits well, but I think the lettering and the border don't do well with the work itself.

Can you explain a little more what you mean by inconsistancies?

What kind of a font do you think would work better? At one time I had vast collection. That collection is now on a hard drive that doesn't mount. I've been slowly rebuilding my collection, and this information would help me keep an eye out for something.

The border was one of the things I was considering completely revamping. It looked good at first, but is proving to be a pain to detail. Not to mention the fact that it is a bit of a contrast. The render has smooth lines and the border is all sharp 45 degree angles... I think I just convinced myself to ditch them and start over. I'll wait a bit more before doing so though.

Wow, that's really, very nice. I'd love a blue or indigo one, but I can always change the color myself. What I'd really like is a really high res one, 1600x1200, if you can (with lowest compression [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]).

Edit: Also, what's with that strange noise that's overlayed over it?

The "strange noise" you refer to is either

A) jpg compression so it wouldn't be massive and take forever to upload and to view or

B) the color burn overlay I made that brings out a bit more of the color.

I'll see what I can do in the way of a 1600x1200. I've got 3 more renders booked but all of them will need to be networked ones. Most want to take over a day on this computer. I'm hoping if I split the render between the Mac and the PC that it'll go faster and maybe cut the time in half. So yea, I'll see about a 1600x1200 this weekend sometime.

Maybe it's a combination of both. It's uniform noise, like a pattern. Just make sure you save your finals with the highest JPEG quality, or as PNGs.

Then you're most likely seeing the color burn overlay. Like I said, I added it to bring out more of the color and to add a bit of a texture.

Finals are ALWAYS saved at highest .jpg quality, so don't worry about it.

looks awesome, maybe drop the bottom bar altogether and let the image bleed out. Just a suggestion for the sake of suggestioning. Again, very nice work [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

[EDIT: Emon it looks like it may be a form of color dithering to preserve file size. I dont think a color burn would create such a pattern, and JPEG compression (a.k.a. jpeg artifacts) doesnt come out that uniform, at least not in my experience. The pattern can be seen more clearly when you select/highlight the image /]

Oooh.. very nice. I really like the 2D work you've done on it. Could definatly use a little more in terms of 2D on the bottom, to level out with the top, but your 3D work is very nice. I quite like that grainy type look that it has to it. Makes it look very authentic. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif] Maybe just up the brightness of the colors in photoshop, perhaps?

Yup. I definatly like this peice. Do you showcase on DeviantArt, by any chance?

A few things go to DeviantArt, not everything though. Usually if I submit something it's always a final, never a draft or proof which is what this is.

I've been slacking off work with it lately because of school, SATs (which were this morning), and becuase I've been playing with LiteStep and the Aston Shell on the 90Mhz Gateway in my room. I'll probably resume work later tonight.
