That's got the be the most annoying idea ever. Sorry, but Jk's force blinding comes to mind and that was annoying as hell. Normal lighting should be good enouh... it just looks way too bright, or you selected all the light entities to mislead us all, which is a bad idea anyways. Care to explain more?

Ok, you caught me [http://forums.massassi.net/html/redface.gif].

I'm sorry, but it was too tempting not to post that pic of my map in "full light" (shudder). The pic was from last night when i was deleting the lights i used for the very first test run, so your looking at arond 70 out of 201 light all at once there (ad it took 2 hours to compile [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]). As i type this, the next build is currently compiling, so i'll post some pics when it's done. In the mean time, i have a pic for all of you from the INGAME version of the last build (yes, i KNOW that the lighting is flat, but that's just to see how the map looks ingame)

DOES IT LOOK ANY BETTER NOW?!?!

Actually I kind of liked the light, if it were weaker, it'd be a nice feel to a level.

Well, as i'm short if time i'll keep this brief. I just finished testing the map's second build (for those of you who are interested, the name of the map is "Jedi Sanctuary". Sadly, i was only able to snap 1 shot (i keep confusing the button for screens in JA (F5) for the button for screens in my other favourate game Command & Conquer: Gerenerals: Zehour Hour (F12). Ah well. here's a taste of things to come.

That's all i have time for tonight. i'll post some more pics 2morrow. now i've gotta add flames to the torches, lights to the flames, and learn to create a skyportal (if anyone could provide a tutorial, that would be a BIG help)

The stairs look too steep. It looks like the character will just walk off the top and fall on the lowest part. (It's a bad habit Q3 games have. You have to space the stairs out more than natural.)

Nice curves around those pillars. If it wasn't a texture, but actual patch meshes, you'd have a great map.

maybe if that was the front door to some temple, and there was a sandstorm outside, that would be cool... otherwise... too bright.

The columns were originally patch meshes, but i found the brushes easier to work with as i could establish the breaking point perfectly (you meant the circular component of the columns, right? If you meant to have the tiles as patch meshes, i admittedly don't know how to do that, and so would have a little trouble implementing it (that and my computer would probably launch my processor like a balistic missile... i onlyhave a 10ghz p3 [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif])

The backstory of the map, is that it's located on the planet of Raitana - a planet that personifies the force by having a hemisphere enveloped in light, and a hemisphere enveloped in darkness (it would explain the planet further, but it would taketoo long [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif])

On the light side of the planet, there are several Jedi temples, and the map i've been working on is the one that's still in best condition (i still plan to create a debris field on the ground throughout the playing area). The map itself is a bridge inside the temple that is suspended between 2 cliffs over a chasm. so as a result, there will sadly be no sandstorm.

lttle correcton there, my system has a 1.0ghz processor. coupled with a 64mb video card and only 384mb of SD ram, i sadly cannot play JA online, but i would still like beta-testers to volunteer all the same, and give me some feedback... when the map's a little further along.

looks nice, but the pillers seem very thin compared to the plateaus they are on, and they need more detail.
