Snowed in, thought I'd dick around a bit in Photoshop.

Things I hate about this in retrospect: the lighting makes absolutely no sense (placement of shadow, orange light on his skin), as usual his skin really doesn't look like skin, and there's something strange and about his right arm. Whatever, it killed an hour or two.

'But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked. 'Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: 'we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.' 'How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice. 'You must be,' said the Cat, 'or you wouldn't have come here.'

Yeah, it really does suck. That's what I get for putting your texture as the background. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

The music industry is a cruel and shallow money trench where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

Oh genie! How many wishes do I get?

Just three? That's ok. I wish for MORE wishes! Bwahhaha!

I like it, S51.

Yeah, everything but the background is entirely from scratch.

Cool, stop mirroring all your faces, but cool. as far as anatomical proportions go, the neck is too big (or body is too small). The upper arms could stand to be lengthened a bit as well, your elbow hits at about an inch above your belly button. Also with the right arm, why it looks wierd is you have the arm turned in a way that the humerous would be popped out of the scapular socket. Rotate the arm so the bicept is all you see of the upper portion and that should help.

Now for the questions, what do you use as far as building up the figure? like stick figures? Or do you just countour it out until it looks right?

Keep drawing!

The face isn't mirrored, just to point it out. If anything, look at the lines defining the cheekbones.

mirrored in this case was the wrong term, i was referring to some past sketches mainly. However this one is still very very symetrical to the point where it appears mirrored. Like he mirrored some of it but not all to give the illusion of it not being mirrored.

Nothing on his face is mirrored but, given that you're looking at his face straight on, I tried my best to make the two sides of the face symmetrical. Given that the last piece I posted where something was mirrored was a good number of months back, it's probably safe for you to let that go.

Oh, and you're right about the orientation of the right arm. I usually just start out with a simple gesture sketch and fill in details as I go along. Nothing spectacular, but it turns out alright most of time.
