Had one of my few inspirations to poetrize.
My dog turns 14 on Wednesday, and he's getting up there in age. It's had me concerned for the past two years, because I know I'm going to collapse at news of his death - a close pal from age 5 that dies is not something I think I'll be able to handle. So I wrote this small poem in an attempt to experss my feelings and help to alleviate my stress.
Ode to a Dog
From my earliest age,
You were my friend.
Your youth and energy,
Were a God-send.
Through the years,
Through times good and bad,
You've made dark days bright,
Made me happy when sad.
My closest pal,
My soulmate.
There've been few as close to me
Few I've loved so much to date.
You've weathered the years,
Your hair turning white.
Your friendship and loyalty hasn't faded.
My mood rises at mere sight.
But, like all good things,
You must come to an end.
I'll never forget, though,
My greatest friend.

I've often held to the belief that relationships are short, finite, and useless. Despite my best attempts, I've met another "her." While I'm sure that I'll eventually move past such feelings, expression seems to work best in dealing with them.
I called it Untitled mainly because I couldn't think of a name for it, and it was at the top of Notepad.
Untitled
Have you ever been unable to meet someone's eyes?
You fear for the safety of your soul.
They are a painful reminder to you,
That you aren't whole.
Your eyes lock, and there's a tug at your soul.
You have to tear away.
You can't stand to the truth,
You've no idea what to say.
Your whole life, your past,
These feelings you've denied.
You can't tell them how you feel,
Because they'll know you lied.
Year after year,
Denouncing the tom-foolery of love.
You thought yourself distant and protected,
Not expecting death from above.
I'm lost now, not knowing what to do.
I see you and I feel drawn in.
My head is pulled beneath the surface,
I'm drowning.
God help me, I've no idea what to do.
I'm without direction,
Caught by surprise
By an emotional insurrection.
