I actually made/am making a highly detailed floorplan of the Mansion. It's based on a combination of Atlantis, the Chateau, the Biohazard symbol, and classic crop circles. The basic idea is that he has an island chain in the Atlantic ocean and goes there during the summer for some R&R. Or whatever. It's not any crazier than the Chateau.
The cause for the sign on the door is a double reference: Directly to "Go Ask Alice" by Jefferson Airplane, indirectly to "Alice in Wonderland". The line in the song, is, of course, "Remember what the doorknob said: Keep your head, keep your head." The Island Mansion smacks of Alice. There's a ballroom with a checkerboard floor and "robotic" soldiers ("Wooden men on the chessboard get up and tell you where to go") do battle with the characters. There's a massive AI program designed to perform reflections that has manifested in exile as a massive knight in shining white armor who speaks in riddles... backwards. ("And the white knight is talking backwards").

It's our All-American product. We got the idea from the Germans. The French hate it. It goes for half in Canada. The English have a version, but it's not so hot. There's cheap knockoffs in India. The Japanese are devolping a sleeker, sexier model. Made in China.
