Why do you hope it's a joke? It's pretty obvious that they're not in any way shape or form funny. I wouldn't laugh at them if I were 5, and many claim I've got the maturety level of a 5 year old, and the comics aren't funny.

On the other hand, the art is supurb, and if I could do that, I'd make more comics...

A word of advice when making comics:
The little speech-bubble-arrow doesn't have to come directly from the speaker's mouth. Just direct it toward the speaker's general direction, and it can be assumed that he's using his mouth to talk.
