Ok, so I was bored last night, and decided to play around in photoshop. Midget Basher had inspired me with one of his pictures to try out cell shading. The following are the results.

The eyes. You can't really see them in the original picture.

Otherwise, uh... good. I think. Sort of zonked right now.

It all looks great excepting perhaps the part where you painted over the lines on the left (I guess there isn't anything you can do about that now), and you might want to work on the lines inder the breasts; they really don't match the shading.

happydud, here's a tip. Start from dark and moderate up to the lights. That sorta works for me.

Keep in mind of the darks (like around the eyes, ears, etc)

Hrmmm... his picture? No offense to midget basher if this is him in the photo... but it sure does look like a woman to me. Maybe... its just the feminine figure... and the breats.

Anyways, other than that i just think its too blocky. Make thing curvier and you can prolly make areas where things are too big a lot more accurate.

Grissy- Actually, I can fix that coloring-out-of-the-lines. It's still saved as a .psd, so I'll just use the eyedropper tool and just swath over it. It'll work, damnit!

You seem to have left out a lot of detail, but then you put a lot of unneseccary and incorrect detail into the face. Wassupwidat?

It's called vectorizing, but normally done with a vector graphics program (flash, illustrator, freehand). Cell shading is more like the chelleorig.png image.

There's an entire art community devoted to vector graphics (I'm assuming yours aren't actually vector, but the techniques still apply mostly).

http://juniatwork.mrtio.com/ <--- best vector work ever, but he uses meshes. You won't be able to get that shading without em heh, which in turn requires illustrator.

It's a thread where people are showing off vector work. I'll warn that there is a pic or two of naked women (very well done, I might add). So it's NWS/NSS.

I personally don't dig vector work, so I can't give any tips.

The eyes should be more shadowed, I think. Other than that, it looks good.

And the this next update (at the top again) is probably one of the last. I'm approaching the launch date! The original picture sucked.. I wish the res. was higher. Anyway. I redid all of the black lines, so everything is more defined now, fixed some kindergarden errors (coloring outside the lines), and removed some unneccesary black lines.

Kudos to MadQuack for the idea for the new(er) mouth.

Keep the background. And the skin tone is much much much to orange. Think a peach color. Upper lip is too fat. I don't know how possible but need shadows for the cheeks so that clearly shows she's smiling.

But you're coming along. Keep it up!

Good Job, happydud. It's interesting that you used only straight lines for borders...

By way of note, the image that you linked to is the image I'm working on with all the color and lighting layers removed. Here is the image with the current color and lighting layers in. I'm still right in the middle of the face, and I think it looks like crap right now.

Anyway, yeah, good job. Face is nice. Mouth needs work. Good Job overall.
