The Underground Resistance Gaming group was a group designed in 2002 designed for the finer sides of Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2 Role Playing. From this group, spawned a Modification to the game that won’t do anything revolutionary. The Underground Resistance Siege Mod was born. We’re not attempting to revolutionize JK in any way. We’re trying to make it fun. We’re trying to allow for the most harmless level of JKRPGing possible. In order to create hype, and possibly gain a few members, I decided to compile the following list of possible features.
(The following is for the Special Forces side of the group, the Academy of the Sabers group has still yet to be completely planned out)
Races
With 11 races to choose from, each with their own specific statistics and abilities, players will have no trouble creating that ‘Perfect’ Role Playing character.
Human
Rodian
Wookie
Gran
Trandoshan
Bothan
Twi'lek
Mon Calamari
Aqualish
Gamorrean
Noghi (Nogri)
Classes
With the advent of Classes, as used by the Galactic Civil Wars mod, URS decided to take up the same idea. Each class has a set of modification statistics, that modify the number statistics races have. There are certain levels achievable, each giving a higher, and in some fields, lower Modification numbers. At one point, completely new classes are available to certain leveled users.
Normal Classes-
Medic
Engineer
Pilot
Ranger
Short Range Scout
Long Range Scout
Advanced Classes-
Bio-Technician (Medic & Engineer)
Spy (Ranger, Short Range Scout)
Sniper (Long Range Scout)
Special Operations Pilot (Pilot)
Stats
Well, what would an RPG be without stats? URS will include Player stats that effect the use of weapons, and other items. But to avoid the hassle of stats, players will never deal with them. Ever. Stats are all handled behind the scenes, allowing for submersed game play, rather than stat based wars. A weapon’s accuracy is effected by the accuracy of someone’s race, and the class they choose. The strength of a player depicts what types of weapons, and how fast they can run with each weapon. Things like this allow for balanced game play, giving the player the ultimate control over their gaming style.
The Player
To further balance game play, and make the game more RPG or SWAT like, we’ve made some edits to the player. 3 modes of standing. Normal Standing, which makes weapons fire at 50% accuracy, sitting stance, which makes weapons fire at 75% accuracy, but makes stepping slower, but quite. And laying stance, which is 100% accuracy, plus it’s silent, but slow movement. Instead of holding the crouch key, you tap it once to move through stances.
Stamina allows the player to move fast in bursts, or steady forever. This minimizes jumping and firing, because jumping takes all Stamina away. A single fist punch lowers stamina before it hurts you, making training weapons for training levels realistic, in the sense that they hurt, but don’t damage you. Stamina regenerates over time, depending on your stance.
The option of pressing forward or backward and the player continues to move along that path, therefore allowing players to type and move (With the mouse) and possibly shoot.
Changing running and jumping speeds to halfway realistic movement.
Reloading and clips.
Once your health has reached 0, your player is stuck in ‘Lay’ mode, and Stamina wears out fast in this ‘Death’ state. You can be picked up and moved in this state by a comrade. If after a certain time you do not receive medical attention your health will drop to -10, at which you die, and are kicked from the game. A single death means your ultimate death in the game. This is used for much more realistic RPGing, in order to keep a consistency of life and death. Because it’s a team based game, and NPCs are your only worry, death is highly unlikely.
Things To Add In The Future
Multiplayer Vehicles
Strategy Style NPC Control
Weapons Showing Up On A Person
Weapon Creation
I’m dying to hear all of your ideas, and perhaps opinions (But mostly Ideas) for URS. I’ll post the highly compressed version of the weapons list I’ve posted in the past, and also a boastingly large list of members.
