Come on people, support the budding artists here. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

Anyway, I just updated it. The Navigation bar now links to all the different pages, although I haven't added any content to the pages except the 3D page.

I'm not a big fan of the logo up at the top right, the completely side shot of a flatshade model tends to look way too odd to be worth anything.

As I said in the chat, it's supposed to be kind of a cool splotchy high-tech image. Sort of like those Army ads on TV. No relation whatsoever though. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

What he used is irrelevant. I see a pretty good page in the works. Nice layout, and I know there's going to be some good content. And that's way more than I can say about the page you made by hand...

exactly. I'm loving the blue theme, especially in the weapon renders. Including polycounts and the purpose of each model is a very good idea... perhaps build time would be too?

Build time was about 30 minutes to an hour for each one.

Updated again. Menu buttons have glowy rollovers, and all the pages are up (to some degree).

Great models, but I don't like the blue screen lines on the pictures. Monitors do that enough on their own without your helping. They distract the viewer from the model itself.

I think the scan lines are okay. I'm no expert, but I think someone looking over a portfolio is more looking at the general quality of the work and efficiency (time, poly count, etc). I mean it's not like they need a super sharp, flat shade or wireframe with absolutely no rendering effects or shadows, those are only necessary, I think, when criticizing a model or something. But I don't really know for sure...

Thrawn, as you probably know, you want to have experience in more than just Cinema 4D if you want this to help get you a job some day (I understand money is an issue and all that).

Thanks for the advice, Emon. I hope to get a student copy of 3ds Max to work with. Either that or Maya. Which would you recommend?

Both if you can, but Maya if only one. It seems to be taking lead in the industry, although that can always change.

I got the educational version of Max last week and I must say that so far, I'm very happy with it. Never used Maya though, so that may not count for much. If you do get 3DSM, get a quick-start guide. The most needed controls are usually buried beneath several menus, so there's a pretty steep learning curve. Very powerful once you know what to do, though.

But whatever.
