this is just a little thing i started on last night. I wanted to make it for a group of me and my friends who like to play JO (just got JA, installing it as i type) and they like castles and stuff, so gimme some input and suggestions! pictures are of GTKRadiant, because i cant get the lighting correct in game yet. Ingame shots soon though.

Change the floor textures of the tower tops. In some of those arial views, it blends together to form an epiletica extravaganza.

The battlements are too thick and spaced too far apart. The wall on the side of the staircase shouldn't just cut off like that - stonework generally wasn't cut like that.

It sucks that OoT was the last Zelda game made with good, serious-looking graphics... DW 8(or whatever it's up to now) I've seen that puts cel-shading to good use...

As for the map, Is that JK, or JO? The texture used is decent, and the repetiveness is limited due to the little variance in coloration, which is a good thing here. However, with a bit of good work, I suppose that this could turn into a good MP level... Assuming you add a nice dungeon! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

by the way, ive totally redone most of the level. inside textures are much different, added surrounding hills and trees and a skybox i like. This level will be set at night. i promise ill get those screen shots soon! just adding the last touches and then i might release it.

Hmm... A dungeon with rusty iron, extreme darkness, and torchlight reflecting off of the damp, cold, stone floor! THAT wil definitely be a backdrop for some good MP! Perhaps you should also make a duel map, with just the dungeon, in addition to the castle.

Thought it was JK last night, it still looks like JK even after reading the captions.

Unless the lighting gives enough atmosphere to compensate, you're going to need quite a bit more archi.

Its definately NOT JK. The screenshots are from Radiant (not sure if its GTK or JK2). The reason that the gfx look as simple as a JK map is because the rendering engine in Radiant is nothing compared with the Quake 3 rendering engine [fires up UnrealEd 3.0 and basks in the warm glow of a map preview on the game's engine before collapsing into a fit as it crashes @!% RW!@#$ ASDF@#QTQGY%#UAW#%$^$#U)

Now that Correction mentioned that, I'm thinking that it would fit the level perfectly.

Even though it looks more like a JK-level, I'm waiting for this level (if you're making it for JO, that is).

Your architecture is very bland, try making it more dynamic by making more detailed walls, support struts, pillars, holes in walls even, anything!

There are no perfectly cubic stones, and those archer supports are perfect cubes. I'm sure you can make the brush more rounded and broken looking.

Perhaps some wear and tear would also make the level look much less JKish.

GothicX, its not a custom. Its straight from the sky directory. What i want to use is either the desert2 or yavin skybox, but the problem is the Yavin one doesnt give off any light for me, and i dont even have a Sky texture for the desert one, all it shows is the pictures.

The only thing I'd change is the alignment of textures on top of walls.

Some of them need to be rotated 90 degrees, so the blocks run along the walls and not across them.

yes, i know the lighting sucks, im working on it. thanks to cazor for putting up with questions again and hosting. prince xizor, the wood texture is under yavin. no shots of the actual castle because it looks like its fullbright and that makes it ugly looking.

Looks pretty good in-game... A couple of suggestions:

Change your ground texture/arci. It looks too bland at the moment. It just may be that you ARE working on it, and what I see is the unfinished version of the area...

Try to make the edges of the stone look a little more rounded... Even simply slicing a little off of the edges, making them two 45 degree angles would help.

Wow this is pretty impressive, even with repetive textures m8. Just fix the repetive textures make a new shader for the moat maybe add some decay to one of zully's or mada's textures for the wood. and get a good midevil brick texture made up. And it would look sexy =].
