And of course, more Lamb and Tuna (read my sig for reasons why i don't say "Tuna Fish")

That's right folks: I'm still at it. I am still working on my map "Jedi Sanctuary", which has now evolved into a large CTF. Though it still has some lighting issues, (and i need to create/assemble some models for the sky portal) archi is done with the one exception of the variations for the Red side of the map

In the mean time, i leave you with this:

I hope you enjoy them.

Very repetitive texturing. Also, keep your hand away from the spacebar, cloning is not a good thing if you overdo it.

EH_AceCSF You are my god!!!!!

Thanx for finding a way to get those pics working (could you please post a detailed description for future refrence?)

As a response to GothicX, yes, i KNOW that the textures are somewhat repetative, but let's face it: It's a temple hewn out of a cliff-face!!! How many types of stonework could possibly done? (that being said, the Rift maps by Ravensoft had a bit more variety, so i will try....).

Cloning isnt always your friend (and i DO keep my hand away from the spacebar), but i have the columns to simulate my own take on Moria or a perfect Doric temple (note the shape of the roof). This map is architecturally complete. Asthetically.... its not even close. it needs more textures, lights (more than half of the map isnt even lit) and models.

*Btw: could someone please tell me how to create a mutilayered texture? I need it for a waterfall

The idea behind the map is that its a long extension of a temple complex that stretches across an open area. That open area can best be described as a caudron. The complex runs under a shallow sea, and the map comes out at a circular point that the water drops down into (the map is essentially surrounded by a giant waterfall). i'll post more after the next compile (today or tomorrow) and post a drawing of the skyportal idea as soon as i can get a hold of a scanner.

Textures don't need to be repetitive if they're hewed out of stome, in fact, it should even be less repetitive. Reality being my reference.

Your architecture can't possibly be complete yet, since you've got much repetitive archi (I meant what I said, you overdid it!), and it's just.. a box with stuff! Add some diversity to the walls, ceiling and floor, support struts at the sides, kill the damn pillars (Maybe leave 6 or so), and be creative!

Your idea for this map is pretty neat, but when it comes to execution, you spoiled its potential. Alkso, please give an example of that texture you're talking about.

tough critic eh. And yeah, everything does look a bit repetive.

well to make this work. Easy. Get to your hdd (im sure you got it), and then upload to editors corner or free ftp (like www.lycos.co.uk)

Sorry if there was some confusion: when i talk about "architecture",i mean the basic construction. when i talk about "Detail", i mean all of the brushes and models used to fill the space. Also, keep in mind that my system resources aren't exactly high, so i cant do anything TOO complex (though i may just use boxes to represent rooms and construct the room, then put it all together later).

And BTW GothicX, saying my columns are too repetative is like saying that the Mines of Moria (from LOTR) or the Parthanon are too repetative. Yes, the temple is Jedi, but its pretty damn old as well.

For the multitexture, i need a series of animated TGAs layered on top of eachother. the other option is to just use 1 realistic waterfall texture like the one in this screenshot from Battlefront:

And for those of you that crave repetativity: [http://www.jk2files.com/screenshots/38/files2/21384_6.jpg]

I'd continue to rebut your arguments GothicX (and therefor chalk up the post-count on this thread), but i'm choosing to break it off here as i dont want this to turn into one of the famous saxman threads (sorry saxman, but u know its true).

Btw: the last screen that i posted (right above this post) is from "Rift of Shadows" by Ravensoft.
