I'd be more impressed if you converted the Q2 DM and CTF maps to JK (namely The Edge). [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

My only question is; what took so long? I've seen CO conversions in almost every game besides Q2. Glad to see you doing it for a game that actually has good gameplay. Sadly, it looks as if it's for a Q2 mod?

No, I just happen to be the webmaster of that picticular mod (The most complex Quake 2 FPSRPG (First Person Shooter Role Playing Game))

And, I needed someplace to host the files.

The Download is included at the end of my message.

The reason it took so long, is that I felt I had to be a good mapper to pull this off, and I still had hard times with somethings. Even now, there are some misalignments, I also messed up the structure of the map a bit, but it still work outs fine.

Quake 2 Purgatory is coming out soon too (Another map of mine... Based on the JK Purgatory)

Duel Zero : Released the beta. Probably the end of it. Not to worry though, I'm working on Randsaber, which is a lot better.

Quake 2? Is that game still played?

It looks...uhh..rather drab. I think the JK one does look better.

I agree it looks rather drab, but I did not allow myself to use Custom textures.... I'm having a hard time pictures exactly what I could do without rasing r_speeds(which average around 300-500). Lighting is always an option, :\

Too orange, but I guess that's Quake 2 for you.

Textures...don't have anything to do with r_speeds. And what, 300-500 triangles? Maybe in 1997, but I should think your average machine can do a lot more these days. While it is still on the lesser efficient Quake II, I see no reason why it cannot be pushed a good deal higher like many other games. DF, JK, and Q3 all handle way more than they did upon their releases.

You're right. Also, does it really look that bland? It must be the lack of contrast in the textures, while JK had quite a surprising contact in textures.

I think I may take advantage of the triangle method, and add some flavor and stuff to the walls. Also, I got a comment saying that it looked like a box. I should probably find a way to get around that too, any ideas?

Think Q2, forget that it's a canyon, and go from there. Just keep the GENERAL layout of CO, and it'll be fun. Go curvey, because curves make the world go round.

Hehe, Curvy is fun. I'm actually working on my triangle method skills, so this would be a good exercise. However, upon diving into this project, I quickly realized I'm going to have to rebuild the entire map, just because I was really messy when with the first version.

I also know that lighting errors are going to be a big problem (Quake 2 doesn't like them, I swear to God), but I will manage. I'm starting with the ramp in the 3rd picture, and working my way out. I'm pretty much done the ground and walls in that area...

Tell me, how dangerous is it to be making an entire map out of triangles?

I hate trying to do map-remakes. I got a 65%-finished Goldeneye Complex for JA lying around on my comp. They always look fine at first, then you run into scaling problems of every kind, architechtural ambiguities, rooms don't fit where they should....sigh.

Well good luck.

Everything in that game is split into triangles anyway. Your compile times will suck, but the engine can handle it.
