DBZ battle animation - hi-tech MSPaint translucencies

Some of you may remember the first one of these I posted. Here's the sequel/conclusion.

Made every last frame in MSPaint. No other image editing tool was used. Used GIF Movie Gear to put it together animation-styles.

Though DBZ isn't my favorite thing in the world, that animation is quite good for MSPaint.

Now, there's someone with a HUGE amount of spare time.
Well done. Incredible. Just how many frames is it?

Wow, that was freakin awesome.

Okay, I'm impressed that you used MSPaint, but also disapointed. You could have made that a lot faster and a lot better looking with a real editor. I used to use MSpaint only... hell I made an entire card game using MSPaint, but that was back in the days of Windows 3.1. Have you tried Paint Shop Pro or Photo Shop? I shudder to think of what you could create with one of those programs.

He'd never finish it. MSPaint is the prefered animation program because the more time savers you have in a program, the more complex everything is going to get. MSPaint is quick and dirty, which makes it easy to spit 500 frames with ease.

Plus those other editors cost MONEY.

The animation is too stick-figurey, and it's DBZ, but still very good MSPainting.

You should DEFINATELY try out EasyToon. It's just for this sort of thing. And you have the talent and the patience to work on such a thing. Of course, you might have to sacrifice color (You can color it afterwords if you want, but the program doesn't do color), but it makes it much easier to continue frames, and it easy-outputs them all into a single gif. It even shows you the frame before, and if there is one, the frame after, in a different, light color so you can see what you are doing. It's quite nice. Just google for it. (Might want to try English, since the original was a japanese program, but it has been translated to english. It's freeware, either way.)

That was darn good! Some of the stuff I couldn't help laughing (looked so silly [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]). I can't wait to see another and I'm ticked that I didn't see the first one. Oh well, this was great. I'm saving it on my HD right now. Gonna show some other ppl what Acharjay can do. [edit] Hey, I can't find the first one. Can anyone tell me where it is? (If it's still up)

Heh, thanks everybody. Thought most people would get turned off by the mention of MSPaint. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

1) It's 516 frames, and lasts for 80.40 seconds (unless run in IE, which runs it faster for some reason).

2) The first frame was made at 9:28, July 16th, 2003. Very much a spare-time animation.

3) I'll upload Part 1 in a while, although it's not nearly as advanced as this one is. There's only one static camera angle throughout the entire thing.

4) I may try out EasyToon, but this program GIF Movie Gear I've been using makes everything as simple as possible. It'll take any type of file you want, convert it to .gif, and put the colors in its own GIF palette.

5) I used MSPaint for a couple reasons:
• To show off a way of doing manual translucencies that I stumbled across.
• Because it's nice and simple, without all the complex options you can choose from.

6) I might move up to full bodied-character animations later on, but for now, stick figures are dead easy to use. They can do anything.

Excuse the double post - here is the first part. Not nearly as good as Part 2, but they still pull off some neat moves.

Well easytoon doesn't have any conversion stuff, because you actually draw the frames in the program. That's what makes it so nice.
