My first stab at pastels. Been under my bed for half a year, amazing it didn't get uber smudged. Scanner made the pic so that you can see all these pastel lumps and it's a bit darker colored then it should be..and there are some magical black lines on the left side of the pic..other then that....It's based off a cover of newtype magazine..still a work in progress. Dunno if I will ever finish it. (Coloring the skin sucked, I don't have a flesh colored pastel! I had to mix purple, pink, orange, white, grey, and some other color I never heard of.

yeah, the eyes? That's what it looks like. I just made it how it looked. I'll get a reference pic if I can find one, like I said WIP, the dark black lines will go if I evern get around to fixing it.

I changed the hair for two reasons.

1.) Light blue is so much cooler.
2.) That other color is hard to make!

Like I said when it's finished the thick black on the eyes won't be there, and there will be the white lines under it and stuff. I don't really want to make the nose smaller, because in the picture it's just a dot...and I think a slit looks better.

Um... no offense, but those eyes are bad. They look too square. Try rounding them and making them more oval-y.

It's kind of blocky, kind of patchy, and kind of out of proportion, but I know from experience that these are all the fault of pastels.

Pastels are evil.

The right eye is a bit off. But the rest is good. I like it.

Pastels are a poor choice if you're planning on drawing anime/cartoons.

Or anything with great detail for that matter.

No remember people, he said this was his first attempt with pastels. Looks good for a first. Keep practicing and everything will improve.
