In order from earliest to most recent,

This pic is pretty much done. A simple render, inspired by Jinn's (I think) spider-in-the-computer story.

This one is not quite done. It needs work on the bracers. Looking for comments on what to do with this one.

This one is my favourite and was finished a few days ago.

If anyone is interested in the 1024x768 renders, let me know and I can email them or something (my image-uploading service isn't letting me put them up [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]).

These pictures were made using Blender.

Email them to webmaster@sorrowind.net and I'll host em.

Anyway, the spider looks too fake in hte first one...

The shadow or whatever is under the hand in the second one doesn't look right. If thats the ground, I suggest moving the lava back some or something, so it looks farther down.

The third one is fine, except I thought the spikes on the vine were green, not white, but that's nitpick [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

Actually, that spider render is the best of three, far as I can tell. The third one's pretty good. The second one... Could use a lot of work.

Cool Matty - yeah, even though it was traced over, I still didn't make the head/eyes :P but I thought it still kinda looked cool.

I know exactly what you mean, and getting the right perception on the lava is something I've tried to do and failed. Its either how it is, or its a smaller tile and doesn't look any farther away.

I pretty much mixed two seperate designs. This one from Paper Mario (which has white thorns), but took away the tongue and "buddies".

SniperWolf - where exactly do you think it needs more work?

Juz - How have you been? It's been awhile, huh? :P

Put some spike or something sticking out of the lava, or make it so you can see the wall. That should help make the lava look farther away preception-wise.

I redid the image, and its working now. (It was corrupted in the zip also, but I recompressed it in photoshop, and changed it to RGB colors. Seemed to fix the problem.) Grab it at the link he posted above.

Drak - Not bad. How about you? Are you playing any MMORPGs these days?

Thanks for fixing it Matty.

Well Juz, I guess I'm doing pretty good :P. The last MMORPG I played was Dark Age about 2 years ago, so I haven't played any of the new generation MMOG's. Although it seems from the reviews I'm not missing too much..

I was considering going back to AC for awhile after so many fond memories :P, but they're actually increasing the monthly fee to $12.95 American which is something I'm not too happy with (which is one of the reasons I didn't get Galaxies). I don't mind paying the monthly fee (as long as its reasonable [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]), because I understand what the money is being used for. But what I don't understand is how the fee's for these games is going up as technology is getting cheaper. The extra $3.00 quickly adds up to like an extra $60 Canadian per year.

I know you still play Galaxies, as you still run swg.net, but have you looked at WoW/sign up for the beta? That looks like it's shaping up to be a pretty cool game.
