first, i did not make this model, although i wish i could. I doubt even Murc could make it. but its a contect from Alias (the creators of MAYA) and theres 70 days left. the rules are to use this model to make any animation you want. The winner gets a copy of MAYA Ultimate (or Complete, i dont remember, but its the most expensive one). Ive included a rendered shot of it, and a non-rendered shot.


*note- in the rendered view all i did was add lighting*

From what I read on the website, you can make a scene for him to go in, but they won't take that into account.

Q- Can I add environments or background to the scene?
A- They will not be taken into consideration.

Basically looks like they want a textured version of their model, animated in one of three choices, plus a pose of some sort.

You don't have to do all of that, SonofSatan - either texture the model, pose it, or animate one of 3 actions. I heard the rigging isn't the best, but it looked fine from the "how-to" video they made available. The animation ideas are a little dull, though..

IIRC, you have to do all 3 of those things...

From the Contest Rules:

"You must complete these three levels: Animation, Texturing, and Character Pose"

From the way they worded it, it sounds like all three of those are required. I don't see how I could be reading that wrong, but... I guess it's possible?

Gargh, I read it wrong. What a stupid contest.. animating and texturing are two completely different disciplines.
