I don't think that you exactly have to do things exactly like in the JK-version. That would be pretty lame (at least I'd think so). And I like the way those screenshots are.

I got to hand it to you. Looks like JK. Even more it looks good. The texturing on some of the buildings need work I noticed some are misaligned but other than that your texture choices are excellant. It really reminds me of the classic Double cross on NarShaddaa, The sp version the way the landing pad is set up. Oh yeah I like the lighting.

Okay, little bit of an update. All entities in the level are in working order except the convyors (just having a small trigger_push problem) and i am working on the det traps right now. The test map worked, so once it is compiled I can get some screens.

Any other ideas?

I don't know if this has been said, but the architecture is awfully simple considering the engine. Why not spruce it up with some grating and holes in walls and stuff? Looks decent though.

There are breakable holes in some parts of walls, if that was what you were thinking. Just thought i would make some shortcuts. A few of the elevators have grating with a transparent shader so it shows through to another brush and makes a nice looking effect.

Ive been trying to keep it somewhat simple so it plays well (Q3 engine doesnt like big open outside areas) and so that it doesnt lose the feel of the orignal Jk level. I guess i could make some areas in the walls that are slightly recessed where there are lines on the textures, just to add some detail. If you could give some examples of areas i could add, please do tell. Need more ideas, also, unless you think adding more areas wouldnt be a good idea.

Honestly, I think its a good start, but just a start. You could take it so much farther than you have. Adding new areas is one thing that could help, but the other thing is detail. Those areas could all stand to have a lot more detail than what you've given them already. How about adding more pipes, steam vents, girders, viewscreens, etc?

The Conveyers don't need target_push. There is a shader in the factory, or Taspir texture packs. mind my ignorance if you already knew that. But from what I heard one of them will move the player.

It looks decent enough, but especially in that last shot, it looks like an empty room with some details thrown in. Try to give it a more unified look - a type of detail, or a theme. Look at a *real* cargo loading area for inspiration. Nar Shaddaa's designers didn't come up with the idea for a massive, overgrown urban area out of the blue. Also, a lot of the textures don't mesh well. I don't think Nar should look as clean and organized as an Imperial base, but it still has a singular look to it.

Forgot to mention this little suguestion:

change the texture on the door in that last screenshot. it just looks so out of place as this shiny new polished door in a grungy old and dirty environment (not that that environment doesn't kick A--!!)

It's actually not that clean looking when you get up to it. The lighting on it really helps that. There arent any JA textures that are closer to the oringal Jk door, but maybe i can put some dirt decals on it to make it grungier.

I meant they don't go together. Sharp contrasts in the level should be provided by physical detail, not the textures. My suggestion is this: use the basic layout and features of the JA map, and fill in the textures and details based on real-world industrial sites (but give it a slight twist). I'd use concrete over the hull plating textures a lot of the time, and when you do use Raven's textures, make sure the detail matches up with the architecture as if the texture were meant to be used there. Visualize how an area should look regardless of what textures are available, and then find ones to fit that image.

A lot of Star Wars designs were inspired by real things. Tatooine buildings came from Tunisian houses, Tuskens came from Bedouins, Prequel Coruscant from massive urban areas, etc..
