Done entirely with JED.
Edit - I guess I could have mentioned also that it's a revolver... just some insight, for those who might think otherwise (ie, lasergun, single shot, whatever, etc)

No, but the Dark Forces Bryar was a huge inspiration.

The body of the gun seems a bit too wide. Other than that, loods good.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. Mainly concering the trigger guard... I might go back and tinker around with that.

(There was a reason I made the whole body that wide, and if I could remember it, I'd tell you. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif])

edit- Oh, I remember! I think I made it that wide to get the aft-sight to fit on it without the edges hanging off... Yes, that was it, I remember now. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/redface.gif]
I'll still go back and play around with it, maybe just cut the triggerguard down.

Updated, according to what DSettahr and I briefly discussed.
(That is, the trigger guard and hammer have been 'skinnied')

Eh, if you'll notice, the barrel is actually quite small. It's a revolver. The purpose of the larger hull around the barrel is to look cool. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

What exactly is revolving that suffices to call the gun a revolver?

Eh, the cylinder. You can't tell because the gun isn't textured, but if you'll notice on the concept pictures, there's a silver part at the back separated from the rest of the large "hull." That's the revolving part.
It's built basically just like a normal revolver, except I added the big thingie around the barrel on the front...

Here, a diagram

Neat. The first pic really looked like a cross between a bryar and an older model pistol (from back in the day).

Can't wait to see it textured. Right now, looks exactly like it does in the Clue board game [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]. I take it that was at least the general type of gun you were modeling.

yay! it's for JK! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

i would suggest removing the wide barrel and making it look like a real revolver. Try a Colt Peacemaker. Its the barrel that makes them looks so cool.

I can definately see the Bryar influence. Very nice.
You do know that a silencer won't work on a revolver though, since they're open chambered?
If it breaks, you get to keep both pieces.
2004-02-29, 8:28 AM #27
Yes, and I tried to come up with a way to justify it and couldn't, hence it not being on the final model. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]
I guess you could probably make a tight seal and get it quiet, but I donno... I didn't really like the way it looked anyway.

you should totally make it load like a peacemaker though. opening up kinda like a shotgun. way cooler than the roll out loading(sorry for non-techie terms, i dont know much about guns.) in fact, until that last shot i thought it did load that way.

I put alot of thought into that, Ford, about whether it should break in half or roll out. Ultimately I decided to have it roll out, because personally I think it looks cooler, plus I better like the idea of having a hindge running through the center rather than going back and adding in a hindge on that bottom block in front of the trigger guard. Sorry, but being able to spin/flip it shut is just too cool to pass up imo [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]
