This is just the first runthrough, getting a feel, testing out. However, I want you to tell me what you guys think and feel free to use this idea. Right now, just simple scaling and inverting the model parts individually.

Looks like some kind of cell-shaded fire elemental :S Not much like thermalview imho. I wouldn't really know of a method to make it better though :\

Uh, guys, he said he was just testing the idea to see how it turned out. He definately isn't finished working on it, so I'm sure the arms and "3dish thing" (I can only assume you mean blending it a little instead of having it so blocky) will come in time. Personally, I think this is a great idea... can't forget to make droids either very dark or invisible, though! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

Still doesn't quite work as thermal... because the walls should show up... dark most likely, unless they emit a heat... and try using a gradient texture, and the edges be darker...

Even if those walls were emitting heat, there would be no way to make them glow. And he isn't even using textures for that, it's only solid colors. Because he can't just texture a new model.

If you use SetColorEffect, you can make the screen blue, which would cover most of what you need, and then use the reds/oranges/yellows for heat.

Tis what I did... Made the screen a dark blue and changed the models and tetures through a cog.
