My little outpost on the planet Wayland. Comments? Suggestions? jEDIkIRBY's nipple rings?

(And no, resizing is not one of my hobby's)

Now, someone remind me: wasn't Wayland where Grand Admiral Thrawn found Joruus C'baoth in "Heir To The Empire"? (nice Halo-esque architecture btw)

I like it, putting in less fog really made it look better. This might just be me... but are the textures a little.. bland... or is it supposed to look like that?

That looks way too advanced for any buildings on Wayland, not to mention the fact that Wayland wasn't really all that foggy either. Think of Wayland as middle earth or something similar, and you've got it on the money.

Otherwise, there's really not much to see as of now, so I'll hold out on my comments until there's more to see.

Oh, by the way, my nipple rings can be purchased on E-bay for a fraction of the store-value.

It's funny: i always pictured Wayland as more of a midieval village with a Cristian church and gothic (pardon the pun) architecture. The halo-esque/Gen-Mo-Kai (UT-2K4) architecture doesn't seem to fit with Timothy Zahn's description, but then again everything is open to interpretation (hell, look at Monsoontide's SAGA map of Bast Castle in comparison to the one by Ravensoft that appeared in JA).

Even my entry is a re-interpretation (and i'll post it, when i get Q3map2 working [grumble grumble])

wayland had the emperors private storehouse of goodies... it's bound to have 'advanced' structures somewhere... and if you came to my house, and saw it clear out, would you conclude that the planet earth isn't foggy? [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

Besides, Wayland was later colonized. And if I am to believe a friend of mine, who knows the SW universe pretty well, Wayland also have foggy mountain area's. *shrug*

True. I completely forgot about the Wayland storehouse. I'd love to see the interior of the storehouse the way Zhan described in the Heir to the Empire books. The long columns and circular spirals with the clone-tanks and such. Mmmmmm, clone tanks.

Also, a skybox of a Gothic-looking town wouldn't be a bad thing to incorporate.

*shrug* That's a bit much for a duel map, though I might expand on this later. Dunno.

Allright then, I'll try to get some scans by this weekend.

And yes, The Clone Wars comics absolutely rule.

I'm also following Empire really closely, very fun storylines in there.

Yes, I personally liked the fog in the original images. It's something unique, and creates a unique atmosphere. I think it'd create a unique environment to fight in. Hmm, for some reason, makes me think of .hack//sign, lol. The fog, I guess...

The fighting area itself still needs a lot less fog... it looks so monochrome. Keep the fog surounding the area if you can, but tone it down a bit in the arena itself.

You really think no fog would make those towers make sense? Lol. They're just, there. He isn't giving rhyme or reason for them being there. And I don't really see why it'd be needed. It's a level for a game. It doesn't really need explanations. You play a game where you fight the same people repeatedly and anytime they die, they come back to life. Do you really need an explanation for that to enjoy it? No. The fog doesn't bother me, because it creates an intersting atmosphere. You can see far enough to see an enemy in a duel, which is what matters.
