My class and I are required to write a small poem about an animal we might like to be. Here is what I got so far....

I wish I were a chipmunk
So small and ever meek
I'd run around causing trouble, with food in my cheek.
I wish I were a chipmunk
A brown little puff
I'd run around the park, stealing peoples stuff.
I wish I were a chipmunk
So gallant and so true
I'd run around the town, mostly away from you.


So what do you think?

I've always wondered, is it 'I wish I were...' or is it 'I wish I was...'? I hear the first one a lot but the latter makes more sense. Damn English.

Yes I to wondered the same thing, but my English teacher told us to use this form when writting it for some odd reason.

nice poem... i never have to write poems for english... i normally just kick back and listen to music... and its an honors class lol.
