I know this is not JO/JA related, but i wanted to know how it looks, i made the original lightsaber hilt for a movie I did, so I decided to model and render it in maya, please let me know what you think

Hey, it doesn't have to be JK/JA related -- heck, doesn't even have to be SW related, which this is.

Anywhos, my only suggestion would be maybe to not make the head-part of the hilt as noticably different in size as the rest of the hilt, judging from the reference pic. Otherwise, looks very nice.

thanks for the compliment, [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif] i know the head might look too big, and in the original picture it doesn't, the maya one is proportional, only reason the original looks smaller was b/c of the angle i took the picture from, i actually compared both, and both were proportional when you actualy look at the original from the front side to the rendered one from the front side, they are the same

Well, the model isn't that complex, so I can't say it's hugely impressive. maybe with some appropriate bump maps and textures, but not as is. And I believe the word you were looking for is "proportional", not "propositional" which would mean, "relating to making a proposition", or something along those lines.

It's a simple model, but it gets the job done! Good job.

EEP! RED BUTTON!!

Honestly, its not bad, the maya render looks more like a game model than serious movie render.

Mmmm... yummy.

Is it a lightside jedi's lightsaber? It really loks like it.

Well when I made the lightsaber hilt for a movie, i did it based more on the Original Trilogy looking lightsabers then the Prequal Lightsabers, but it is my own design, and it fits very good into my hands

Oh i may have forgotten to say this earlier, but i thought i'd let everyone know, when I modelled the saber, the hardest part was making the Belt Clip

heh, as the first pic was downloading, I was thinking... Dang.. That's some good modeling.

Then I realized that was the actual picture. Anyway, not bad though.

Here's another Render I did, this time with a wooden floor, so you can see it reflecting both the shadow and the saber itself, let me know what you think

The model's okay, but the actual thing reminds me of just a normal pipe with a cap screwed on the top. Usually the lightsaber is more graceful in design, but whatever floats your boat; Jedi made their lightsabers to match their styles and personalities.
Oh yeah, and the model looks pretty cool on that wood flooring. Now test it on a real wood floor to see how it looks. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

I know that RadioShack button. I added four of those to a joystick a few weeks ago.

is it just me, or do those walls and that floor look very much too see-through? other than that, awesome job!

Hm. Needs textures, and try it in another third party renderer maybe? or get it rendered by someone.
